Pastor Dan Poffenberger will preside. Troy’s siblings will act as urn bearers.
On August 12, 1986, at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, parents Chuck and Vicki (Wiseman) Schmaltz celebrated the birth of their son, Troy. He was the middle of three children. Growing up between Big Lake and Prior Lake, Troy loved the outdoors, including water skiing, wake boarding, snowmobiling, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, motorcycling, outdoor music and hunting. He loved animals and children, and both gravitated to him. He had an amazing imagination and was always creative and fun-loving.
After graduating from Prior Lake High School in 2004, Troy met and fell in love with Liz Johnson. He was employed with Asplundh Tree Trimming in Minnesota, his love for climbing and heights lead him to pursue a career as a Lineman.
He attended Northwest Lineman school in Dentin, TX graduating at the top of his class. Soon after he was offered and accepted a job with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) working in Fresno, CA.
Troy worked in California for six years, however he and Liz grew tired of being apart, so Troy made the decision to relocate to Arizona. They both enjoyed exploring every place they lived and all their wonderful travels together.
Throughout life, Troy understood the importance of family. He was fortunate to take a two-year sabbatical after leaving California to live life to its fullest, whether it was a father-son hunting trip, a spontaneous visit for his mom’s birthday, or his nephew’s first few birthdays, he always made time for family and never let physical distance prevent him from being with them.
After years of being the “fun uncle,” Troy and Liz greatly anticipated the birth of their first child, a son due on December 31, 2020. He looked forward to making family memories in their brand-new home.
Troy was generous, a great listener and loyal to his family and friends. An amazing person, loved by everyone he crossed paths with.
A kind and loving man, Troy is missed deeply by Liz Johnson and their baby boy; Father, Chuck (Joy) Schmaltz; Mother Vicki Wiseman; sister Jill Schmaltz; brother Riley Wiseman; nephew, Julian Schmaltz; grandparents Clarence (Yvonne) Schmaltz and Shirley Wiseman; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Troy is greeted in Heaven by his grandparents, Carl Wiseman, Dick and Beth Busse and cousin, Christopher Pfeifer.
Arrangements with Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, Prior Lake.

I was blessed to have met Troy and Liz and to see the true representation of love between Troys father Chuck and Troy. They had such a special bond based on love and respect and I know how much Chuck loved Troy. Troy was tall and handsome like his Dad, the similarities between them were striking and Chucks pride for him was an incredible sight to see. Chuck is the one of the strongest, most genuine men I’ve ever met in my life, and I saw those same traits in his son. Chucks the kind of father that would hop on his Harley and ride all the way to Arizona from Las Vegas to be with him and Liz. When he would come back After his family visit, it was like he had received the recharging he needed in his life. Troy was such a bright and respectful son, and he had the best father anyone could ask for. I know how deeply faithful Chuck is for his family and there aren’t enough words, feelings, emotions, condolences and love to give to him during his time of need. Those who know Chuck, including myself and have had their lives elevated and bettered by him will pray unconditionally with strength, love, respect, honor and compassion for the entire family. You have no idea, how many lives Chuck has effected with his consummate professionalism and passion for life. Troy’s son will be the most loved grandchild in this world and will have the best grandfather ever. We all know how well Chuck has managed his life, if I could be 1-10th of the man he is, I’d be happy with that, you are loved, respected, and there isn’t anything we wouldn’t do for you and your family. God Has Welcomed Troy into His Kingdom, where he will thrive in pure love and joy, until he and his family are all reunited together in the Light Of Jesus Christ. Until then, if there’s anything, anything you and the family needs, you only need to ask and unconditionally those needs will be given because you’ve given more to those you know, than you could ever ask for. God rest Troys beautiful spirit…

Deepest condolences from the Birken and Jeffus family. We met Troy with Jill and Julian and observed his bond for nature and physical activity, More importantly, his love for his sister and his nephew was natural and profoundly felt.
If a life is worth living, then it’s worth remembering. That would be Troy. While grief is overwhelming, may his memory be sustained and celebrated.
