Murray Norris, age 65, passed away on November 19, 2023. A Celebration of Murray’s Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Monday, November 27, 2023 with a time of gathering from 4:30 – 6:30 PM, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE, Prior Lake, MN.
Murray was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 3rd, 1958 to Zoe and Donald Norris. He was the oldest son of 3 boys. He graduated from Prior Lake High School in 1977. Murray attended Normandale Community College. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a tile setter until he retired.
While attending Normandale, Murray met Carol Gorshe and her daughter Alexis. In 1988, they became a family of 4 with the birth of their daughter Kelsey. There were many great memories and traditions that they built together as a family in their home on Prior Lake. They enjoyed many opportunities to travel and spend time outdoors.
Murray loved spending time with his brothers and close friends. They enjoyed getting together to bike, cross country ski, kayak, and share many laughs and adventures. Murray had a creative mind and loved many forms of art. He had an eclectic style and eye for antiques. He enjoyed working with natural materials such as stone, wood, and various metals. Murray loved music. He enjoyed playing his violin and guitars. He loved to listen to a wide range of artists.
Murray is loved and will be greatly missed by his daughters, Kelsey (Chad) Petersen and Alexis (Brandon) Factor; granddaughter Rowan Petersen; brothers Brad (Ann) Norris and Greg (Martha Walz) Norris; step-father Jerry Rowe; and many other loving family and friends.
Murray is preceded in death by his parents, Don Norris and Zoe Rowe.
