Michael Davis Johnson passed away peacefully at Ridges hospital in Burnsville Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023 in the presence of his loving wife Cindy. Heaven gained a new security guard for the Pearly Gates.
A Time of Gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 20th, 2023 from 4-7PM with closing words at 7PM, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 1st St. W, Jordan MN.
Mike was born on January 21, 1957 at Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, NM to Mel and Sarah Johnson. When Mel retired from the Air Force, the family moved to Northfield and then to Jordan where Mike started high school. Because he was brought up in a military family, Mike excelled in everything that he did- football, basketball, baseball, and a drummer in the high school band. Mike graduated from Jordan High School in 1975.
On September 13, 1975 Mike married Cindy Weckman who was a high school classmate of his. A year or so later, they had a son named Nathan, but he passed away when he was three months old. In the meantime, Mike joined the Air Force and became a military police officer. When his stint was up he worked security for different companies and eventually went to the police academy and served as a police officer in Florida and ran security at Canterbury, Radisson Hotels, and the former Daytons’ building.
Mike had a special place in his heart for dogs. He had several different ones in his lifetime. He found a dog one time that he just HAD to have, and legend has it he paid $67,000.00 for it. Of course, it came with a free house, so it wasn’t such a bad deal.
His love for his family was the most important thing in his life. They loved to travel and had a cabin in Tennessee. He excelled in being a master barbecue chef at home. Cars and motorcycles were enjoyable hobbies and being the competitive person that he was, he never turned down a spirited game of paintball! An avid sports fan, he found great joy in playing all kinds of sports with his children.
He never faltered in his faith and hope, as was apparent in his My Chart medical password: MIKEYWON!
He lived life with gusto.
Mike is survived by his wife Cindy; children, Jared and Danielle; and grandchildren, Ella and Eli all of Savage.

Cindy – I am so sorry to learn of your loss. I also have good memories of Mike and you from high school. It sounds like the 2 of you had a wonderful life with many great memories. I understand you spent some of your happy lives in DeLand – 30 minutes or so from my home here in FL. Give me a call if you ever get back here. My prayers are with you and your loved ones at this sad time.
