Joan (Ryan-Diaz) Humkey, age 66, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Prior Lake, MN, unexpectedly entered eternal life with our Lord and Savior on July 19, 2018. Joan walked each step of her life in faith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 31, at 11 am, with a time of gathering two hours prior, at St. Michael Catholic Church 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake, MN. Father Tom Walker will preside with family acting as urn bearers. Joan will be laid to rest at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, St. Patrick, MN. Memorials are preferred to the family.
Joan was born on February 4, 1952, to Francis “Bud” and Marion (Boegeman) Ryan. She was the second of seven children growing up in Prior Lake. Joan married Tony Diaz on November 20, 1971 at St. Michael Catholic Church, where she received all her previous Sacraments. They lovingly welcomed their only child, Victoria in 1972 and moved to California the following year. Unfortunately, Tony passed away, but Joan kept moving forward.
Joan was employed with the United States Postal Service. It was here, she met Hank Humkey and fell deeply in love again. They married in September 2004 and later moved to Henderson, NV. Upon retiring, Joan focused her time being a grammy to beloved grandson, Nicholas.
Forever loved, Joan will be forever missed by husband, Hank; daughter, Victoria Diaz; grandson, Nicholas Diaz, siblings, Roxanne Hastings, Pat (Cheryl) Ryan, Tim (Laurie) Ryan, Ellen Krueger, Mary (Steve) Thomas; brother-in-law, John Liemandt; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
There to greet Joan into eternal life with our Lord are her parents, Francis “Bud” and Marion Ryan and sister Karen Liemandt.

Joan Ryan I truly believe was an Angel sent down from the heavens. I was blessed to be so fortunate to have become friends. I can think of many great attributes she had but there is no denying her genuine selfless self. Joan was authentic no one could question the love was genuine . Always. Never as much as the love for her daughter Victoria. Unconditionally. I offer my deepest condolences to Victoria and the family.

Hey Vicki,
It’s the sound of silence that’s deafening. My heart goes out to you. I know that you are lost but this will only be 4 a moment. God has chosen this time and place for all great miracles to surface. What looks to be a road of despair is actually the road of happy destiny. Please don’t hesitate to call me 4 whatever reason. Peace…

To the Ryan family, Hank, Victoria and my son Nicholas, May God ease your pain during this time of morning. We all feel the emptyness in our hearts and an overwhelming sense of sadness at the lose of such a kind loving companionate soul as Joan was. Vickie your mom was a rock for all of us to lean on more times than I can count. She would and could weather any storm that came her way with Grace and dignity. The love she had for you and Nicholas was unwavering and unconditional. May that love burn bright in your hearts forever! Hank you are a lucky man to have had such a strong women as your wife. May God stay with you and carry you through this tuff time . My heart is with you all! My deepest condolences to all of you!
May Eternal rest be granted to Joan oh Lord and let Perpetual light shine upon her and all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.
Amen
