Wayne E. Whipps, age 74 of Jordan, passed away quietly at his home on February 9, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 1-3PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake.

Wayne was a simple man, he believed that if you had a warm coat to wear, a roof over your head and food in your cupboards, that’s all you really needed. He loved the outdoors, was a fisherman and a deer hunter and overall, just loved being outside. He loved animals and had a special spot in his heart for dogs. They knew that when Wayne came over…he came to play.

He learned a trade that was as old as they come in working as a masonry and farmer which was hard and strong work but that reflected in the kind of guy he was. His hands of workmanship show in the fireplaces he built in his own home, the homes of his children and just a few years ago in his granddaughter’s home.

He was a quiet, kind, humble man, devoted to his family. He was our inspiration. Wayne loved his grandchildren immensely – Ashley, Brian and Hayley. He absolutely was their biggest fan at their sporting events. If these kids were sick and their parents needed to go to work….call Grandpa and he would come and sit with them.

Our hearts are sad but as he would say……I’ve lived a wonderful and blessed life and really….what more can you ask for.

Wayne is loved and missed by his wife of 57 years, Diane; daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Hartman; daughter-in-law, Mary Whipps; grandchildren, Ashley, Brian, Hayley; step-granddaughter Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Addison Malz.

Wayne is reunited in Heaven with his son, John W. Whipps, and parents, Elmer and Agnes Whipps.

All the fun times we had with Wayne and Diane came flooding back in the recent visits we shared. Wayne was easy going and fun to be around; always a good story teller and quick to laugh. He and Diane made a great pair. It’s so difficult to accept that he is gone. Words cannot express our sorrow.

To Diane, Tammy, Kevin and all of Wayne’s family, may the Lord give you strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead.

Condolence from James & Marsha Yarusso on April 20th, 2022 11:08 pm

I’m saddened to hear of Wayne’s passing. Reading the condolences clearly represents the class of 1965 and the friends he grew up with. I remember him as a gentle boy who could run fast and make touch downs. His athletic prowess was unchallenged and admired by so many underclassman. As we all age we will confront our mortality. As teenagers Marsha and I remember him as a star, though he was clearly much more than that. RIP.
