Tony Hallum, 56 passed away on February 19, 2024, at his home in Jordan, MN, surrounded by people who loved him. He had battled esophageal cancer for 4 years until God called him home.

Anthony Shawn Hallum was born on June 27, 1967, in Winona, MN to Clifford and Dianne (Tudahl) Hallum. He was baptized and confirmed in the Rushford Lutheran Church. He graduated with the RHS class of 1985. He began his love of books and history very early in life and was nearly unbeatable in Trivia Pursuit. His sense of humor was legendary.

Tony was active early in scouting and had a paper route with his brother for many years. He shoveled snow and mowed lawns for neighbors before his first real job at McGeorge’s Restaurant. He worked there until his graduation from Winona State University. George and Judy Graham have remained good friends.

Tony entered the Masters History Program at Mankato State University in 1990. Besides being a professor’s teaching assistant, he worked at a restaurant where he met and fell in love with the girl who baked the biscuits.

He married Amy (Bulock) Hallum on August 29th, 1992, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Eagle Lake, MN. They enjoyed Trivia nights at B-Dubs, Renaissance Festivals and exploring bookstores and special weekends in Duluth and Red Wing. Tony also enjoyed golf, wood-working, Ryobi tools and the occasional good cigar.

Tony managed many businesses before working with Mid-County Co-op in Cologne, MN. His customers and co-workers were very important to him. The family is grateful for those who supported him during his cancer fight. During Tony’s career, he gave many young people their first jobs and coached them on how to become a dependable employee. He received an award from the local 4-H for his active support.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Hallum; his mother, Dianne Hallum and brother, Christopher Hallum; Amy’s parents, Judy and Art Bulock and her sister, Tammy Bulock; Uncles and Aunts, Carrol and Darlene Tudahl, Anita (Tudahl) Batchelder, Denny and Mary (Hallum) Nelson, Erik Pawlowski, Steve and Lorraine (Hallum Martin) Stamper, Scott and Carolyn (Hallum) Panning and many close cousins and friends.
