Timothy James Lindbo (Timmy), age 37, of Prior Lake passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held Monday April 25, 2016 at 11:00 with visitation starting at 10:00. Services will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 3650 Williams Drive, Burnsville, MN. Pastor Walt Lichtenberger will preside.

On May 16, 1978 Tim and Jill Lindbo celebrated the birth of their son, Timothy James Lindbo. He was the third of four children. From a young age, Timmy loved exploring the outdoors with his brother and sisters. They spent countless hours at the family’s cabin in Alexandria. During the summer months, the children would fish and swim. In the winter, they could be found snowmobiling on the lake. Often his grandparents Jackie and Jim Miller would spend months at a time with the family at the cabin. Timmy’s grandpa Jim encouraged his interest in carpentry and woodworking. Over the years these skills were used by Timmy to help his family with many home projects.

Timmy attended the Minnesota Academy for the Blind in Faribault where he graduated in 1997. He continued his education at both Hennepin Technical College and Dakota County Technical College. He received an associate’s degree in Retail Management.

Timmy was a proud member of the Prior Lake Lion’s Club, where he recently served as president. He enjoyed the special camaraderie the organization offered. An annual highlight was the Mid Winter Convention. Timmy was fortunate to always have his family, and friends, especially Scott and Randy to share his passion of the outdoors with. Some of the activities he enjoyed the most included ice fishing, spring turkey hunting, the annual fishing trip to Lake of the Woods, summer fishing at Leech Lake, the fall pheasant and duck hunts with Capable Partners and most of all deer hunting on his land.

In 2002 Timmy purchased land in Hill City and began to build his cabin combining his love of the outdoors and building. With the help of his brother Matt, his father and their close friend Randy the cabin was soon completed. Timmy and his dogs, Casey and Remer proudly hosted family gatherings. Every fall he invited family together for a 4-wheeling weekend. Family was everything to Timmy, especially when it came to his nieces and nephews. In 2014 the entire family took a trip to Mexico where they went swimming with dolphins, deep- sea fishing, and enjoyed time as a family.

Despite the many challenges Timmy faced in life, he persevered. He will be remembered for his positive attitude, sense of humor, and determination. Timmy will be greatly missed by his parents, Timothy and Jill; sisters, Keri (Scott) Lorenz, Amy (Brian) Hennen; brother, Matt (Annie) Lindbo; nieces and nephews, Ethan Lorenz, Avery Lorenz, Casey Hennen, Courtney Hennen, Chloe Hennen, Owen Lindbo, Jackson Lindbo; his devoted canine companions; Casey and Remer; many other loving relatives and friends. Timmy is preceded in death by his grandparents; Clarence Lindbo and Jim and Jackie Miller; uncles, Tom Lindbo and John Lindbo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be distributed by family to Capable Partners.

I had only recently met Tim. Since that day he has inspired me so much and he wouldn’t have even known it. I have spoken of him often since we met at a Lions conference and admired his tenacity and lovely spirit. It was obvious he was a great guy with a wonderful heart……it is so sad to hear of his passing. I am so very sorry for your loss! I wish I would have been able to get to know him better but felt blessed to have, if only briefly, crossed his path and met his amazing soul. My deepest sympathy to you.

We are deeply sorry for your loss. Timmy was always upbeat and positive. He was a special star that was sure to brighten any room that he walked into. Although I didn’t get the chance to know him more in his adult years, his spirit was remarkable in his childhood. He personified what it meant to be an outstanding person, it was an honor and a privilege to have had the chance to know him. He will be deeply missed. May his spirit shine down on everyone and his memory be cherished in the night skies.

Though I did not know Tim in his adult life, I have such fond memories of hanging out with him and Matt in junior high, swimming at their parents house, building forts, and doing all the stuff that kids do. He took a lot of crap back then from Matt, or “Matthew” as Tim would call him back then when he was upset, but you could tell Tim loved and admired Matt so much. And his parents were about the greatest parents I had ever met and I’m sure they still are to this day. Sorry to all for your loss.

I’ve known Timmy since he was a kid. He was a special person, and a great friend. We fished and hunted together many and I will forever cherish every minute. He never considered himself to be disabled, and firmly believed he could do anything if given a chance. I consider myself very blessed to have known him, and I will miss him dearly. My deepest sympathy to all his family and friends, I will keep you all in my prayers always.

I am sorry for your loss. I really didn’t know Timmy, but I do know that from all the stories that his Dad told us at work that you couldn’t of asked for a better friend. A young man with a positive attitude no matter the situation.

This past week we lost one of our Lions. Tim was a true advocate for the Lions club and a friend of the department of ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. His willingness to participate in eye research will certainly help others in the future and is a testament to his character. On a personal level, those of us at the eye clinic thoroughly enjoyed Tim’s visits. He had a happy easy-going personality and a contagious laugh that made him wonderful to be around. Please accept my sincerest condolences for your loss.

Condolence from Aggie Beatrez on April 24th, 2016 10:23 am

I worked with Tim at Lowe’s. He was always happy and funny. He’d talk endlessly about his family, the cabin and his many adventures. When he’d talk about roofing and walking on the roof I’d always ask when he planned on driving. He said he already had….. of course with a HUGE grin. He’ll be missed. My deepest condolences.

Condolence from Gloria Warner on April 25th, 2016 2:21 pm

I heard about Tim’s funeral this afternoon. I have a sad feeling, as Tim taught everyone around him how to pursue whatever interested you. A special memory was when he stopped in my classroom to say hello as a grown man. He had a dog with him, as I think he had stopped to talk to a classroom ( maybe Mom’s).
What a tribute to him to be president of the Lions and live such a full life. Mr. And Mrs. Lindbo, he was lucky to have you as parents! I was honored to have him in my class.

There are no words to express my sympathy to the entire Lindbo family. Matt and Keri and Amy, you did such a great job with your stories . The love was pouring out of your hearts.I’ll bet Timmy was smiling the whole time. He was fortunate to be such a big part of your family and you all were even more fortunate to have had such an inspirational and sweet young man for a son and brother. My thoughts are with you all.

Condolence from Nancy, David & Aleen Shoemaker on April 28th, 2016 7:16 pm

We met Tim on graduation day for him and Casey at Guiding Eyes for the Blind. We had raised Casey as a puppy and were so thrilled to meet Tim, so happy and excited to be Casey’s new best buddy. We only talked to Tim every 6 months or year, but his love of his family and enjoyment of all their activities and adventures was so clear. We always enjoyed and appreciated maintaining our long-distance relationship, sharing changes in our family activities. We knew we would be laughing while we talked. We are so sorry for Tim’s passing and pray for you all at this time. May you all be well and feel peace.
