Stephen Francis Doyle

Stephen Francis Doyle was born on March 29, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to parents Francis and Elizabeth (Heddle) Doyle. He grew up on the family farm and attended a one room school house, both in Cedar Lake Township. In eighth grade, Stephen started attending New Prague High School where he participated in basketball and graduated in 1955.

Stephen was an over the road truck driver for 30 years and belonged to Teamster’s Local #120. He married Kathy Kock on July 18, 1970 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Vail, IA. They were blessed with three children, Matt, Theresa and Tim. Stephen and Kathy eventually parted ways.

Stephen served in the United States Navy for two years. His tour of duty took him to Quantanamo Bay. He loved driving his Arctic Cat snowmobiles and once completed the Winnipeg 500. Stephen enjoyed crossword puzzles, making homemade spicy pizzas and spending time with his friends.

At the age of 75 and a resident of Danbury, WI, formerly of Prior Lake, Stephen passed away unexpectedly at his residence.

Stephen will be deeply missed by his children, Matt Doyle of Shakopee, Theresa (Craig) Burdorf of Arlington, Tim Doyle of Shakopee, and their mother Kathy Doyle of New Prague; grandchildren, Jackson and Parker Burdorf; siblings, Mary (Bill) Dillingham of Prior Lake, Frances (Dennis) Gonyea of Minnetonka, Bridget Doyle of Eagan, Cathy (John) Pipkorn of Elko; many other loving relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Elizabeth (Heddle) Doyle.

Visitation will be on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the mass at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 4500 220th Street East, Prior Lake. Father Orland Tatel will officiate. Stephen will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis with full military honors.

The Doyle family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Serivces, Prior Lake Chapel.
