Memorials will be donated to Roger’s favorite charity, Compassion International.

It was a warm summer day in Morris on June 21, 1949 when Glen and Genevieve (Nielsen) Dosdall celebrated the birth of their strong baby boy. Roger was the middle of five children. He loved growing up on the family farm where he developed a strong work ethic. Roger was a talented athlete and was the MVP of his high school football team. He was also active in the FFA throughout high school. He graduated from Cyrus High School in 1967.

After high school, Roger attended the University of Minnesota Morris where he studied chemistry, physics and education. Roger became a high school science teacher. He worked in the Appleton and Prior Lake school districts for a total of 11 years. He later earned his Master’s Degree from the Mankato State University. While he was working as a teacher, his sister Bev suggested he reconnect with an old church friend from back home who was working as a nurse in St. Paul. Roger took Bev’s advice and called up Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Pearson. They had dinner together for their first date and the rest was history. Roger and Beth exchanged wedding vows on August 9, 1975. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Andy and Angela.

Roger and Beth settled in Prior Lake to raise their family. Their kids loved growing up near Cleary Lake Park. As a family they enjoyed taking cross-country road trips. Their travels took them to Mt. Rushmore, Washington D.C., Disney World, the Grand Canyon and many other great places. Roger and Beth enjoyed traveling without the kids too. One of their favorite trips was an Alaskan Cruise. Roger also did a lot of traveling for work. He was the Vice President of Quality & Improvement for Chart Industries in New Prague. His job took him all over the U.S. and abroad. Roger retired in July 2014 after 32 years with the company.

Family and faith were the most important things in Roger’s life. He was a Born Again Christian and was very active in his church. He participated in Bible Studies and taught Sunday School. Roger was also a skilled woodworker. He made walking sticks out of Diamond Willow branches he’d collect from his family farm. He also had a passion for collecting guns, knives and marbles. Roger was a compassionate man with a great sense of humor. He always put others before himself and had a very giving nature.

The morning of Saturday, February 7, 2015 Roger went to be with the Lord. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his home. His loving wife of 39 years was with him. Roger will be deeply missed and remember always by his wife, Beth Dosdall; children, Andy Dosdall and Angela Dosdall; siblings, Beverly (Richard) Boyer, Ray (Chris) Dosdall; mother-in-law, June Pearson; special little friend, Parker Sundvall; other loving relatives and friends. There to greet Roger in Heaven are his parents; brothers, Howard Dosdall and Peter Dosdall; father-in-law, Axel Pearson.

The Dosdall family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation.

Condolence from Alice (Dosdall) Ohme on February 9th, 2015 7:48 pm

Roger and I have been Facebook friends since August of 2009. We have never met but we communicated back and forth via Facebook since then. We tried at one point to figure out how we were related but never really got that straight. I grew up in Red Wing, MN and it is very likely that we are like 3rd or 4th cousins. I now live in Florida.
In any case, I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Rogers passing! It was just a few days prior that I was reading his posts on Facebook and everything seemed fine. I will miss his posts which were always interesting.
My condolences to the Dosdall family. God bless!

Condolence from Terry & Janet Rezac on February 10th, 2015 8:10 am

Beth
Please accept our deepest sympathy ! We are so sorry for the loss of Roger. He was a co-worker of mine over many years at MVE and Chart. I have many found memories of our time working together solving many of the product and business issues we faced during those years. Roger was always very pleasant, respectful and a pleasure to work with. His work ethic and character set an example for many to look up to. He will be remembered and missed by us all. Are prayers are with you and your family.
We are so sorry we are unable to attend Rogers services we are in Fort Myers Florida for the winter.

Condolence from Mona Lee Hostetter on February 10th, 2015 10:15 am

God bless you in your loss. Roger rode the same bus to school as I. I don’t think I’ve seen him sense those days of long ago. But his classmate, Kieth Solvie, my relative sent me the obituary. The happiest part was reading that he was born again. Praise The Lord. Roger is now is the most glorious place, face to face with the Source of all Love and Kindness. How wonderful it must be. I pray for all the relatives that the healing of the Holy Spirit will touch and bring Life to you all. Only He can truly heal. God be with you all.

The Westrums let us know this sad news for all of us here and Glory for Roger. We appreciated your kindness to us when we lived in MN before going to Ecuador. May God keep you in peace as you grieve this loss, and give joy at the thought of meeting again.

Condolence from Gordy and Lou Olson on February 10th, 2015 12:01 pm

Still a bit numb from the shock. What a beautiful obit. I have it on the kitchen table and smile every time I see Roger’s smile. As I told Gordy…”I loved that guy” I could sit for hours, literally, and listen to him and discuss prophecy. He was such a learned/intelligent/wise man…certainly a man after God’s own heart. AND that humor…that took just a split second before you were laughing uproariously. We so treasure the last few times we have been together. Now we look forward to our ‘next’ visit together at the feet of Jesus. Yes indeed he was ready to go Home and so looking forward to it. Dad always enjoyed talking with Roger so much and now they can talk again, but bet it won’t be about prophecy. Love to you all. We are praying that you will feel God’s arms of love, comfort, AND PEACE, enfolding you.

Gordy and Lou

Condolence from Steve Therneau on February 10th, 2015 3:45 pm

Beth,

I do not if you remember me, but we met at Roger’s retirement dinner. I was shocked to learn of his passing and can only imagine the grief felt by you and your children.

I always reached out to Roger when I was in town because our dinners together were tremendous learning opportunities for me. He was a great mentor and teacher.

There have been a stream of people in my office this week expressing their grief and sadness. Roger touched people in Georgia just as he did in his home state.

I will be unable to make his service, but be assured my thoughts will be with you and your extended family. Your loss is a loss for many of us. He was an inspiration both personally and professionally.

May God bless you and your family in this tough time. I wish I could be there to express this directly, but I know you will be surrounded by his many friends and colleagues. If I can help in any way, just ask.

Many condolences,

Steve Therneau

Condolence from Mark Ludwig on February 11th, 2015 11:02 am

Beth and family. I had the privilege of working with Roger on many trips to China. One of the common bonds between us is our love of family and love of Jesus. We were able to share stories of the sorrows of life as well as the joy of family and friends and how our relationship with Jesus has impacted our lives. His love for you and family was always at the forefront of his discussions. My prayers and condolences for all of you in this time of grief.

Condolence from Thomas Williams on February 11th, 2015 1:41 pm

Beth and family. I meet Roger several years ago while working at Chart. I found Roger to be very kind and helpful with anything that I needed to contact him about. He had a very gentle spirit and seemed to enjoy helping others. I also learned that he knew Christ and that we shared reading some of the same authors such as A.W. Tozer (my favorite). Roger told me that he was a big Minnesota Vikings fan so we had football in common as well. I was able to get him an autographed football signed by Fran Tarkenton from Tarkenton Financial the company that my brother was working for at the time. From the few brief times that I was able to share his company I found him to be a true reflection of Christ. I will miss him.

Condolence from Brad Lelemsis on February 11th, 2015 4:44 pm

Although I was am relatively new to Chart and only had the chance to meet Roger on one or two occasions, I could tell how much he was loved and admired within the organization. When I heard he was retiring in July 2014, I was excited for him after 32 years of service. When I read of his passing a couple of days ago, I was shocked and saddened. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his friend and family.

Condolence from Gloria & Dave Nichtern on February 11th, 2015 6:26 pm

We were looking at the Morris Tribune on line and came upon Roger’s obituary. We were so sorry to see it and read of his passing. We wish to extend our deepest sympathy, and our prayer is that Jesus will surround you with His loving arms.

Condolence from Rondi Phillips on February 11th, 2015 9:31 pm

Hello Beth, I am one of your neighbors on 210th Street, and I want to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. It was great to see from the obit that he was (as David said), “a man after God’s own heart,” and that he believed in Jesus as his Savior. No greater comfort than that on this side of eternity. I am hurting in my heart for you . . . prayers will be sent up at this end . . .

Condolence from Lavonne Simmons (Jergenson) on February 12th, 2015 9:20 pm

Dear Beth, Andy and Angela,
I went to school with Roger, and was in the ’67 graduating class. I caught up with him on FB, and so enjoyed reading his posts. I was shocked and saddened to read of his death. The obituary was beautifully written, and I’m praising our Lord Jesus for His life in Roger. Thankful that he impacted so many lives, and especially his family. In high school, I remember Roger as a kind, gentle, and smart man. Blessings and prayers, Lavonne Simmons (Seattle)

Dear Beth & Family,
I just heard from my sister just a few minutes ago about Roger going home to be with Jesus. It sounds like it was rather sudden. It sounds like Roger had an amazing testimony of Christ wherever he went. You were blessed to have him as a very dear part of your lives. My heart goes out to you all. May you find your comfort, peace and encouragement from the Lord in the days ahead. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Greet your Mom from me, Beth!! She’s a very special lady as well!!

Love, Lois
