Reita Marie (nee Davids) Erickson, age 89, of Prior Lake, MN, formerly of Richfield and Eagan, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 30, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, from 5-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN. An additional visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, from 10-10:45 am, with a Celebration of Life, at 11 am, both at Cedar Valley Church, 8600 Bloomington Ave So, Bloomington MN. Guests will be able to join the service via live streaming by visiting: https://cvevent.online.church/

Pastors Keith Kerstetter, Pastor Neal Rich and Pastor Dave Collins will preside. A private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to Cedar Valley Church Mission Fund.

Reita was born to Robert and Anna Davids on October 21, 1932, on Summit Farm, outside of Bagley MN. She met Rey Erickson at Luther League in 1948 and they married in 1952. Over the next few years, they had four children with whom they shared their deep faith and love of family. Mom instilled a love of nature in her children and grandchildren and showed us that every day can be a party. Mom was an extreme and fearless traveler, with her focus on sharing the love of God with everyone. She literally travelled around the world, and never planned to stop. She was a licensed pastor in the Assembly of God church, but she was a minister all her life.

To say that mom was an amazing woman is an understatement. She had a heart for missions, and unbounded love for her family – a family that grew with everyone she met. Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, teacher, counselor, missionary, and true blessing. We will miss her positive happiness, her interest in our lives, her unyielding support … and her unbelievable ability to beat everyone at cribbage and cards.

Reita was truly a gift to us all and is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Reita is preceded by her husband, lifelong companion, and best friend Rey Erickson; parents, Robert and Anna Davids; brothers, Robert Davids and Charles Davids.

Forever loved, Reita will be missed by big sister, Helene; children, John (Jan) Erickson, Kristie (Mark) Alberty, Paul (Kaye) Erickson, Emily (James) Bringle; grandchildren, Jacob Erickson, Ben Alberty, Sarah Erickson, Sam Alberty, Becky Westgard, David Bringle, Laura Dee, Joe Erickson, Jonny Bringle, Alisha Clarey, Cammie Nelson, Haley Michels, Chelsey Gerety; 20 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

What an amazing life and impact Reita has had! We are so blessed to have known her and been recipients of her boundless love, energy and impact. We are so grateful for the countless trips she made to India and the investment in the lives of so many in there. She leaves such a powerful legacy of the impact of Christ’s love and acceptance. We know she is at peace now and rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and savior. I can even now envision how she is looking forward to seeing us all again and waiting to give each one of us a big hug when she sees us ! May God comfort each one who is experiencing the loss of her absence. Thank you Reita for how you lived life to the full and lived it with such passion and love. We miss you.

Words are not enough to express our love and respect for dear Pastor Reita. She let us feel the Father’s love through her words, her hugs and her life. Reita was a spiritual mother to us and God used her to minister deep healing to us as a family. Her influence on us and so many others was transformational.

We are so grateful for her visits to India to “love on us”. Both of us, and our two children, enjoyed a deep relationship with her. She loved us deeply and we loved her deeply too. There are a few people who impact us in ways that are profound. “Mom” Reita was one of them. Distance caused us to miss her a lot when she was alive. Now that she has gone on to be with Jesus, we feel that we should miss her more. But our hearts are filled with a sense of joy, knowing she is now face to face with her Saviour, the Lover of her soul, the One who loved her and taught her how to love well, including those of us on the other side of the world.

We are praying for you all as a family. May God comfort you and may He strengthen you and us all to follow in her footsteps.

Our deepest sympathies to Reita’s family near and far.
Paul and I grieve with you and also celebrate that she is with our Heavenly Father … I have no doubt she will hear God’s words of affirmation… “Good and faithful servant”!
She was my mentor for many years as we plunged into Healing prayer ministry. She truly was God’s open vessel and carried the healing torch getting to deeply rooted issues for many.
Reita was my spiritual Mother and helped Christ’s light redeem and restore life to me. She was my teacher who helped me minister to many from different denominations. Thank you Reita for being obedient to our Lord and loving many into a relationship with the Holy Trinity.
Give our Heavenly Father a big hug from us!
