Visitation for Randy Lewis will be Friday, July 25, from 4-8 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 26 at 11 am with visitation starting at 10 am, all at the Church of St. Michael, Prior Lake. Father Tom Sieg will preside. Pallbearers will be Chuck Lewis, Jim Lewis, Robert Olson, Dave Best, Frank Matachek, Chris Mahowald.

On June 19, 1947 in St. Paul, MN, Randall Robert Lewis was born to parents, Robert and Gloria (Kaphings) Lewis. He was the oldest of three children. Randy spent most of his years growing up in Bloomington, MN, where he enjoyed competitive speed skating, boating and water skiing on the weekends with his family on Prior Lake and helping his dad run the family full service gas station. He was a 1965 graduate of Bloomington high school.

After being friends for many years and working together, Randy started dating Theresa Harder. After four years of courtship they married on May 12, 1969 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Richfield, MN. In 1974 they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl Angie and the family became complete in 1976, with the birth of their son, Chris.

One year after his marriage, Randy graduated from the University of Minnesota and pursued a career in business. After spending 12 years selling photo finishing services for Cinemart Randy switched his focus to technology and communications. The rest of his career was spent selling various products and services in these areas. Most recently Randy worked in this capacity at Americom in Eagan. What he loved most about his work, was gaining life-long friends as he loved the social aspect of dealing with people.

Randy was proud of his six years in the United States National Guard, where he spent weekends and summers, serving our country.

He enjoyed all sports, but mostly the Minnesota Gophers football, as he was a season ticket holder. What he truly enjoyed was doting on his family. Whether it was boating on Prior Lake or spending time at their place on Fort Myers Beach, he was most happy if the kids or grand kids were there to share in the fun. He was always there for his children and grandchildren’s athletic and school activities. He also was a wonderful son to his father and made sure he was cared for at all times.

Randy enjoyed the research and preparation for their vacations which included Europe, Alaska and Hawaii to name a few.

Known as an outgoing, generous, and one with a charismatic smile, Randy died after a two week battle with heart complications, with his family at his side.

Left to honor Randy’s life are is his wife, Terry; children, Angie (Chris) Mahowald of Prior Lake, Chris (Becca) Lewis of Shakopee; father, Bob Lewis of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Grace, Matthew, Aly, Reese, Zoe; siblings, Jim (Dede) Lewis of Eagan, Chuck (Shari) Lewis of Eagan and other loving relatives and devoted friends

Preceded in death and there to welcome Randy home is his mother Gloria Lewis.

Condolence from Joe Kroll on July 23rd, 2014 4:35 pm

Terri, Angie and Chris…I am so sorry for the loss of your wonderful Husband and Father! He was a great man and will be sadly missed by so many people. I consider it an honor to have known Randy for all these years and will have a huge hole in my heart for a long time. He taught me so many things and always had interesting things to share. I have been blessed in my life to have an abundance of friends. That said, I have never met another man that was so proud of his wife, children and grandchildren. You were all he ever talked about. He truly loved each and every one of you and made no bones about letting everyone he know that he did. The way his eyes lit up when he talked about you all was amazing. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can do for your entire family. It would be my honor to help out.
Much Love,
Joe Kroll

My sincerest condolences. Though I only worked with Rand for a short time years ago at Americom, his infectious smile and sense of humor will always stay with me. I know many must feel the same way.

Condolence from Helen Eriksen on July 24th, 2014 9:33 pm

Dear Angie and Family,
I had the pleasure of meeting your father on several short occasions at St. Mike’s with the children’s activities. He was always so upbeat, and Amy has shared with me many times how close your family is, and what a wonderful Dad/Grandfather he was. My heart goes out to you, your Mom, and family. Please know that you have been in my prayers. My deepest sympathy to each of you.
Sincerely, Helen Eriksen. (Amy Martell’s Mom)
