Paul “PW” Werner, age 62, of Shakopee, passed away unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident on Friday, October 21, 2022.

A Celebration of Life will be held honoring Paul Werner on Monday, October 31, with the visitation starting at 12 (noon), and funeral services at 2:00 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road in Shakopee. Following the funeral services, joined by fellow bikers, family and friends, he will take his final ride to Valley Cemetery where Paul will be laid to rest. The Celebration of Life will continue at Turtle’s Social Center in Shakopee. Friends are encouraged to wear their favorite Harley Davidson gear in his memory.

Paul began his adventurous life on June 23, 1960, at St Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. He was the second child born to Robert and Noreen (Orwald) Werner, and the younger brother to his sister Kim. He grew up in Richfield, MN. From the very beginning, Paul was quite intelligent and inquisitive. He was hardworking, dedicated, serious, and, at times, could be a bit stubborn. He was loyal and trustworthy, a well-rounded man and an all-around good guy. Mischievous and rebellious, he lived his life in the fast lane.

Paul carved out a remarkable life for himself and especially for his family. He never strayed from what was most important in his life – his family. They were always front and center. Paul married Teresa Pahl on May 23, 1992, at her parent’s backyard in South Minneapolis. Together they created a solid and stable life for their children, Zak and Rae.

Paul dedicated over 33 years as Operations Manager for Mullin Trucking Inc., in Jordan, MN. He played a vital and important role in the growth and success of the company. Paul worked well under pressure, especially in the “situation room.” He had a special gift with people and knew how to dial into the needs of the customers.

When Paul wasn’t working or with his family, he cherished the moments on or near his motorcycles. He knew how to operate anything with wheels including semis, cars, pickups and motorcycles. Paul spent countless hours tinkering on his bikes making them louder and faster. Paul’s greatest passion was enjoying life behind the handlebars. He was always game to go anywhere and couldn’t wait for the next journey ahead. Paul participated in many Iron Butt challenges and countless weekend excursions alongside the brotherhood of his fellow riders.

Paul was a thinker and a planner. He was continually preparing for the next adventure. Under that big burly beard was a man of humor, patience, a calming voice and a steadfast demeanor. He knew how to make people laugh, how to enjoy his life to the fullest and how to rock his Harley Davidson gear. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Paul will live on through those he loved the most: his wife Teresa, children Zak and Rae, sister Kim (Floyd) Fortin, nephew Lucas Fortin, other relatives and his countless friends and fellow bikers.

Condolences for the family of “Paul “PW” Werner”

Condolence from Steve Cornish on October 27th, 2022 8:31 am

Through years working closely with Paul I had the great pleasure of getting to know him well. We’d chat at least an hour every morning, early before the action. Paul was a cat of many stripes. Love of family, politics, tech, bikes and the total domination of the aggregate industry were a few of our favorite subjects. Paul was a deep thinking intellectual cloaked under a Harley shirt.

If you are involved in the aggregate hauling industry you’ve been impacted by Paul, whether you were part of the Mullin enclave or not. His impact was transcendent. With the guidance of Dick Mullin, beside his friend Joe Mullin, Paul made his mark. Paul made the industry better, a lot for one guy.

Paul’s wife “Tre” was his main and primary focus at all times, superseding everything else. No matter the line of thought Tre might pop into the conversation at any point. I loved that about Paul. He was so proud of his son Zak. I once told Paul, Zak is going to fill your shoes pretty easy, it’s the nature of things and Paul’s response was I’m going to need bigger shoes. Paul was a great cheerleader for his children. One morning he said he was kicking around with the family and he glanced over at Rae and for a split second she looked just like Tre years earlier and it took his breath away. He said he made a gasping sound but nobody noticed, thank God. He was so proud of Rae and the young woman she had become, kind with a spirit unbreakable, he so looked forward to her life journey.

Through my unique position I became a witness to the great life of Paul. My best regards to all during this most difficult of times. And to my friend Paul, it was great. Adios

Condolence from Bev Hale Halleckson on October 30th, 2022 5:40 pm

Dear Paul –
Hearts are breaking in all of your many walks of life. Please see to it that all the many people who love you will stay close to Teresa, Zak, and Rae as they now begin to try to navigate this life.
I learned about your many abilities relating to the partnership that you shared with Teresa while owning and running HowQuaint in Shakopee. You never let us down: all of us fellow-Quainters and all of your hundreds of loyal customers. Very few men, if any, could have filled your shoes during those years.
To know you is to love you. And to love you is to miss you terribly. May peace find you and your family and all who love you. ❤️ Bev (“BHH”)

Dear Bev,
Thank you for your kind thoughts. How Quaint was great for many of us. Paul was a man of few words, but he got his point across with his kindness. I’m glad he got to know you.

Condolence from KATHERINE WERNER on November 2nd, 2022 2:25 pm

Hello,
I am reposting this message from my brother as written for the StarTribune site:

I am so sorry for your unanticipated and devastating loss; Paul will be deeply missed. He and I shared many memories such as holidays with grandma, Doris and grandpa, Karl. We horsed around…. a lot!!! Another is a love and mischief for thrilling activities like sky diving, car repair and motorcycle riding. He and I are both are blessed to have a shared legacy of milestones including weddings, family and children.

With all my love and greatest sympathy,
Glenn Werner

Dear Cousin Katherine,
Thank you for sharing your brother Glenn’s heartfelt and true memories. We had some fun didn’t we? Cousins are our first friends and we will all be together again one day.

Yes, BFFs – and we had one another’s back!

Condolence from Katherine J. Werner on November 3rd, 2022 11:19 am

It is said that we are measure not by how much we love, but rather how much we are loved. Paul was clearly loved by many which is what makes losing him so deeply painful.

Our cousins are our first friends and, if one is lucky, friends forever. Kim and Paul and my siblings were BFFs from the start, wreaking havoc at family gatherings until Grandpa hollered, “Stop having so much fun!” That’s when we knew we had reached our limit. Well, Paul never stopped having fun, but also accepted the responsibility towards family, friends, co-workers that it carried. Adults, he and I disagreed on stuff, but we always circled back to being family often nudged in that direction by Tre. (I often wondered if “Tre” was short for “Treasure.”) It also helped that we both had a wicked sense of humor and were both fans of Frank Zappa’s music and politics! And we were family.

Oh, my friend, your legacy is deep and wide for such a short time on this planet. You were a loving and steady husband and father, a kind and generous friend, and you made your corner of the world a better place. RIP, Cuz. I’ll look for you on your bike in the clouds.

Condolence from Kim Fortin on November 4th, 2022 12:43 pm

Thank you cuz! Your kind words have brought back so many great memories.
