Patricia Ann Hitchler, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2022.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 9, starting at 11am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at St. Michael.

Following the mass, there will be a luncheon held at The Pointe in Prior Lake. Interment will take place following lunch at Dawn Valley Memorial Park in Bloomington. The graveside service will begin at 2pm.

Patricia was born on September 26, 1944, daughter of the late Arnold Victor Allord and Norma Theresa Pinter in Evanston, IL. She and her brother grew up in Denver, CO. After graduating high school in 1960, she graduated from Viterbo College in LaCrosse WI; and then married Reginald Gassen and had five beautiful children, Kirk, Lynn, Lee, Clark, and Beth.

Pat then married Ronald Hitchler at which point she was blessed with another son, Richard Hitchler. Ron and Pat celebrated a beautiful life together, and now are up in heaven playing cribbage together laughing and holding hands.

Pat’s love of her family was the most important thing to her. Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and thrive. She could always be found encouraging them in their dance, sports, and academic endeavors; she never missed seeing them shine. Pat loved a good lunch with her friends, playing bridge, going to plays, and just enjoying time with the people she loved. She may have always been the first person to arrive and leave, but she always showed up with a smile on her face.

Pat was compassionate, loving, funny, and big-hearted to all who knew and loved her. She loved gathering with family and friends to celebrate everything and nothing. Her kind spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and those who were fortunate to know her.

She is survived by her loving children, Kirk Gassen and wife Jayne, Lynn Loehr and husband Craig, Lee Alconero and husband Ruben, Clark Gassen and wife Margo, Beth Gassen, and Richard Hitchler. Pat is also survived by her grandchildren she voraciously spoiled; Matthew, Mitchell, Grace, Rachel, Madeline, Abigayle, Jessica, Quinn, Ahni, Eve, Penelope, Marie and Alex who will miss their Gappy and GG very much. And her five great grandsons; Mason, Tate, Noah, Grady, and Cam.

Pat’s larger than life smile and big heart will be missed by all. And to the end, Patsy would always say “Go Pack Go!”

Condolence from Lynn on August 1st, 2022 4:47 pm

I don’t even know where to start. My heart is broken losing my best friend of 30+ years. I’ll miss her phone calls, lunches, cleaning out her closet and reminding each other to buy lottery tickets only to talk the next day complaining we didn’t win again. Our time with her and Ronnie in Florida, Egg Harbor & MN will always be in my heart.
Rest In Peace my Beautiful Friend!
Lynn

Pat was a good friend and neighbor when we lived in Bloomington. Pat, Ron and I spent a lot of time walking in the evenings and we had many happy times. I will always remember her laugh and the fun we had. Rest In Peace, Pat and say “Hi” to Ron aka “Honey”! Ha! All of my sympathy to her family!!

Condolence from Rich Pelzel on August 3rd, 2022 3:35 pm

Pat was the type of person you wanted to be around. Her infectious smile and boisterous laugh were captivating. I especially enjoyed the time we spent together as families on Lake Andrusia. Pat had the ‘green sunfish’ mounted in the lodge :). As kids, we certainly tested her patience more than once, but Pat kept a positive attitude and always corrected us with a smile and a laugh. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Pat’s family and friends.

I first had the pleasure of meeting Pat on Grandparents’ Day when Abby was in kindergarten. She was so upbeat and delightful, she was one of the grandparents you didn’t easily forget. That’s why it was such fun to reconnect with her at Bible Study many years later. I’m so sorry for your loss. She was amazing.

Condolence from Matthew Kelley on August 5th, 2022 11:13 am

What an amazing Spirit this woman channelled… into, all-around, and through her beautiful family.

A lifetime ago, a group of boys coming of age alongside Kirk tested every boundary & exceeded every limit… Pat shared our exuberance with wit & wisdom, providing a home base, open heart, and unconditional love.

She accessed a part of us that few other adults could. I can only imagine what the next 40 years delivered you beautiful Gassens, but I am sure that this is a challenging transition for each of you.

G-D Bless your family. Let the laughter & exuberance with which your Mom greeted everything be your guide. She will never really leave you.

Enjoy your journey back into everything, my Dear. Thank You for showing us how to live & love. What a circle of life-loving celebrants you blessed & inspired.

Patsy and I went to school together at Blessed Sacrament in Denver. What a wonderful person she was.
Her mother, Mrs. Allard, was a mainstay of Blessed Sacrament as a beloved teacher. What a great family.
God Rest your soul Patsy.

We shared many happy hours with Pat and Ron; beautiful, loving people. While we lost track of one another these past several years, still we recall Pat’s vivacious, delightful personality. We are grateful our paths crossed for the years they did. May she rest in the embrace of the God she loved.
Caring thoughts and prayer for Pat’s family.

Oh family — it is incredibly sad to bid Pat goodbye! She had such great energy and spark and love. Always there for family and friends. Things will never be the same without her. She connected us and made us better.

The sun has gone down.

The last of my husband’s family. We were so blessed to have her in our life.

Until we meet again,
Godspeed Pat!!

My love,
Jean Allord
