Patrick Walter Hill, of Inver Grove Heights (formerly of Saint Paul) at the age of 64, went to his Heavenly home on December 9th, 2021, surrounded by his loving children. He was a beloved brother, father and grandfather.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, December 16th, 2021, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul (239 Selby Ave, Saint Paul, MN 55102) from 10:00-11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held after the visitation, beginning at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated at the family’s discretion to organizations that were near to Patrick’s heart.

Patrick Hill was born on September 8th, 1957, to parents William and Mary Hill. Patrick spent his childhood in St. Paul, alongside his 8 siblings. He attended Holy Childhood Catholic School and later Murray High School in St. Paul, where he would later graduate from.

After school, Patrick spent some time in Oregon working as a logger and later entered the Army National guard. After leaving the guard he worked in the maintenance department for many different organizations. One of the jobs he took great pride in was at Macalester Plymouth United Church maintaining the church grounds and buildings while he resided on the property with his growing family. After his time at the church, Patrick worked at the State Capital Building and later at Oakdale Marcus Theater. When he wasn’t working, Pat enjoyed listening and writing music, playing cribbage and chess, and watching baseball, hockey and football, with a special passion for the Vikings.

One of the great joys of Patrick’s life was spending time with his children and his grandson. Pat would say that his kids were his finest accomplishment. When his grandson was born, he loved to spend as much time as possible with him. He especially enjoyed the Sunday visits with his daughter and grandson cheering on the Vikings or singing songs together; their favorite being “There is Power in the Name of Jesus”.

Pat’s family feels very blessed to have had an “extra” 19 months with Pat after his Covid recovery. Pat enjoyed his last year of life at Timber Hills in Inver Grove Heights and spoke highly of the wonderful team of care providers who showed compassion and kindness to him every day.

Pat’s life came to an end much too soon, but his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace in the presence of the Lord. He will be remembered for his sweet, kind, and humble heart. Pat was a true gift and example to his family on “taking it one day at a time”. He was proud of his 20+ years of sobriety.

Patrick’s legacy will live on, and he will be greatly missed by his children, Justin (Linnea) Hill, Alisha Hill, Grandson Ray Ray; Siblings, Mary Kay (Vinod) Gupta, Bill (Dorothy) Hill, Annie (Marcos) Perez, Pauline (Dan) Finnegan, Eileen (Dave) Froemel, Dan (Dee) Hill, Diane (Charlie) Schaub, and Tom (Mary) Hill. Patrick is preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Hill.
