Milo Elwood Moll, of Spring Lake, passed away at his home the evening of Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the age of 89. His loving wife was by his side. Milo will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM (Assembly Area #2). Full Military Honors will be provided by Fort Snelling.
Milo was born on January 30, 1926 in Le Center, MN. His parents Elmer and Anna (Wondra) Moll were thrilled to celebrate the birth of their son. Milo loved growing up in Montgomery. During his school years, he played basketball and enjoyed boxing. Milo graduated from Montgomery High School in 1944.
After school Milo was drafted into the armed services. He proudly served his country from 1945 – 1947 in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany. Milo was honorably discharged on March 26, 1947.
Soon after he returned from the service, Milo met a beautiful young woman, Sally Koppes. They were both out for a night of fun at Duffy’s Bar in Minneapolis, and they hit it off immediately. They dated for seven years before getting married. Milo and Sally exchanged wedding vows on February 15, 1960 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They were blessed with a lifetime of love and happiness together.
Milo was a hard worker. He spent many years at Archer Danials Midland where he worked on the Grain Mill. He was there until his retirement in 1965. During retirement Milo was able to enjoy some of his favorite passions. Milo and Sally loved fishing together on Spring Lake. They also kept a beautiful vegetable garden at their home. They canned vegetables every year, and Milo would use many of his home-grown ingredients to prepare delicious meals for family and friends. He was famous for his bouja and 3X bloody mary mix. Milo also had an award winning chili recipe that was published in a cook book. His cooking skills were a great asset, because Milo and Sally were always entertaining.
He also loved old cars. He even bought a 1970 Mustang Convertible for his wife which officially made her “Mustang Sally.” Milo and Sally enjoyed countless Sunday cruises in that car. They also showed it at car shows and drove it in local parades. Another passion of Milo’s was his English Bulldog, Bogie Skelly. Milo showed Bogie for many years, and the two were best friends.
Milo was a proud Bohemian with a great sense of humor. He was a dedicated husband and a wonderful friend. He will be deeply missed and remembered always by his wife of 55 years, Sally Moll; other loving relatives, close neighbors and dear friends. Milo is preceded in death by his parents.

Although I had not seen Milo for many years, I remember him well from the time I was growing up. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and the knack for storytelling. And he managed to get along with his mother-in-law Matilda, certainly not the easiest of tasks. He always made time for us kids, and was a good listener, not to mention a heck of a cook.
We have such wonderful memories of Milo (and Sally), and these memories
will continue to make us smile. God’s blessings !
Sally – as a young person I visited Elmer and both of you at the lake. I thought you were in raising dogs, but the obit did not mention that. I and our family have not heard about Milo for many years. I did enjoy my visit with both of you. To bad the communication was broken.
