A resident of Prior Lake, formerly of Jordan, Mildred Katherine Weierke, passed away peaceful and entered the loving arms of God, early Thursday afternoon, August 21, 2014. Her beloved family was present at her bed side, at St. Gertrude’s The Gardens Assisted Living, in Shakopee, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 27, at 11 am, with family greeting guests starting at 9:30 am, all at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 313 East Second Street, Jordan, MN. Millie’s grandchildren will be her urn bearers and Father Timothy Yanta will preside. She will be laid to rest with her husband at St. John the Baptist Calvary Cemetery in Jordan, MN.

Peter and Emma (Schoen) Reus, proudly announced the birth of their daughter, Millie on November 22, 1922, in Chaska, MN. She was the middle of 8 children. Growing up during the depression years, meant hard times and no money, but Mille and her family made the best of times with what God gave them.

Millie lived life to the fullest being a devoted wife, a loving mother and a caring and gentle grandma and great-grandma. Her big bright blue eyes, captured a look from Paul Weierke, as he stood on a roof top, as Millie sat in a vehicle nearby. Their love grew and on November 3, 1945 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska, MN, they exchanged wedding vows. Millie and Paul were blessed with a beautiful home in Jordan, for over 50 years, where they raised 5 children, Tom, Bob, Jeanie, Carol and John.

Starting out with nothing as a couple, Millie and Paul made a nice life for themselves and the family. As a couple, they enjoyed dancing and as a family many fond memories were created camping and fishing, After retiring, they also spent some winters in Texas. In their later years, Millie and Paul moved to Prior Lake for a short time. After Paul passed on February 18, 2010, Millie later made her home at St. Gertrude’s Assisted Living. She loved to participant in activities such as bingo, attending church, playing cards and getting her nails and hair done. But what she enjoyed the most was the conversation with staff and other residents.

Through the years, Millie was an exceptional cook, especially her potato salad and vegetable soup. She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens, knitting and crocheting, playing bingo at Mystic Lake Casino, and bird watching. Millie was most content spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of the Jordan V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and an active faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Millie always had a smile on her face and was a kind and honest person, with such a wonderful and positive attitude.

Left to honor Millie’s life and mourn the death is her loving children, Tom and Sandy Weierke and their children, Brian and Scott, Bob (friend Char Jeurissen) Weierke and his children, Kristi, Matt, Luke and Joe and their mother Mary Weierke, Jeanie Pekarna and her children, Terri, Crystal and Brad and their father, Steve Pekarna, Carol Hagen, John and Sue Weierke; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Glenn and Joyce Reus; sister, Marie Otten other relatives and friends.
