Mikayla “Mikki” Ann Glacken passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the young age of eight years old. Her family will greet guests during a visitation on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, Shakopee. The Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 1:00 PM with visitation one hour prior at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, Shakopee. Pastor Scott Peterson of Living Water Church will preside. This will truly be a celebration of Mikayla’s life. Her family asks that everyone wear purple and/or Pink (Mikayla’s favorite colors) in her honor.

It was a joyous day in Baltimore, Maryland on April 3, 2006 when Wendy and Gary celebrated the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Mikayla Ann Glacken. Mikayla was an identical twin and always had a very special bond with her sister, Madison.

Although there were many hardships in Mikayla’s life, she took on every challenge with positive attitude and an admirable perseverance. Mikki was everyone’s beacon of hope, and she permeated love. She touched people everywhere she went. Even strangers would come up to meet her, hold her hand and feel God’s love through her. Mikayla was a truly unselfish person. She never took from this world; she only gave. Her kind and loving spirit brought her family together and built an unbreakable bond between them.

Mikki was a sweet girl with a sense of humor. She loved watching Barbie movies and dancing to the music of Celtic Woman. She also enjoyed listening to her sister Ivetka play the piano for her. Mikki liked skipping rocks, blowing bubbles and doing most things, but she especially like spending time with her best friend and caretaker Duane. He provided excellent care and friendship to Mikayla over the past few years. He will always be loved by the Olson-Glacken family.

Mikayla Ann Glacken gained her angel wings on March 6, 2015. She passed away at home surrounded by her family who loved her so much. She will be forever loved and remembered always by her parents, Wendy & Kevin Olson and Gary & Sarah Glacken; siblings, Madison (identical twin), Riley, Blayne, Ivetka, Georgiana, Delaney and Kendall; grandparents, Linda & Gary Olson, Ron & Karen Glacken, Patty & David Curtis; many aunts, uncles & cousins; best friend and caretaker, Duane Strand; nurse, Carmen Mueller; other loving relatives and friends. There to greet Mikki in Heaven is her Papa Jim Adcox.

Condolence from Pat Pfistner on March 7th, 2015 1:48 pm

It was an honor and privilege to have cared for Mikayla and to have known the Glacken/Olsen family. As Mikki’s nurse I watched her grow from a lap baby to a very tough youngster who took every medical hit in stride. She touched each person with whom she came in contact and was joyously received by her sister and brother angels when she went home. We only had her a little while, but we knew we were in the presence of one of God’s own. She will be missed as much as she was loved, which is incalculable. Save me a place Mikki.
Love,
Patty Pat

Dear Olsen-Glacken family,
So sorry for the loss of your beautiful daughter Mikayla. Since I first saw her picture I was drawn to her by her beauty and angelical mistery. I will always remember her. She was a special child and now she’s with the angels. Rest assure she’s in the hands of the all mighty and in peace. Now is your time to celebrate her life, a gift to you from God. I am convinced she was given to you for this short period of time to show you how strong love can be. Continue to love her as though she never left, because she’ll always live in your hearts. May God grant you the peace in your hesrts and serenity in your lives and the understanding of how much she meant to you and the role she played inoso many people’s lifes, that including me. Throughout all these years I always looked forward to see her pictures and read about her, now I am praying you all continue your life’s as though she is still there with you. There are other children to keep an eye on and little Mikayla will be watching over them from her special place in heaven. God bless you Wendy and all your sacrifices. You are a wonderful mother and human being. Please take care of yourself. With all due respect in your time of sorrow, I’ll close this one and leave you until I hear from you again with more stories about your angel Mikayla.

Condolence from Charley and Debbie Adams on March 7th, 2015 6:26 pm

Dear Wendy and Family,

We are deeply saddened to hear of Mikayla’s passing. We can’t begin to imagine the loss of a child. It is never supposed to be that way. Even though it was expected, the loss must still be a shock to all of you. May the Lord’s grace and strength see you through the days ahead. The Lord is always faithful as He walks before you, behind you, and next to you. He will never forsake His children. The only thing that makes walking through the darkness possible is that God walks through the darkness with us. May you feel His everlasting arms underneath you keeping you from sinking. Know that that the Lord will sustain you and bear you up.

“The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, A prayer to the God of my life.” Psalm 42:8

We are praying for you and your family.

Sincerely,
Charley and Debbie Adams

Condolence from Jerry Kotsmith on March 7th, 2015 6:38 pm

Wendy, I know nothing that we say can take away the terrible sting, but just maybe this verse will help a little. I was made aware of it the day after Mikki’s passing, and I thought of her instantly:
God saw she was getting tired
and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around her
and whispered “Come with Me.”
With tearful hearts we watched
her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
and beautiful eyes at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Rest in Peace, Mikki.

My deepest sympathy to Mikayla’s family. I have done OT with many children over the years but when I was with Mikayla, I’ve never felt closer to God Himself. I believe she is a special angel and was sent here to enrich our lives for just a short time. What an honor and privilege it was to be in her presence. Your old family here at Carroll Springs School is missing you. Love to all….

Condolence from Jen Ways on March 13th, 2015 7:43 pm

Dear Wendy & all of Mikayla’s family- My thoughts and prayers go to all of you during this time of grief. Thank you for sharing your precious angel. There were many times Mikayla amazed me and she was determined to always give her best and make others’ days better. One of my best memories was when she took steps in the gait trainer across the back deck on a warm, sunny afternoon. It was a time that I could feel God’s presence through your darling Mikayla. I have missed her since she moved from Maryland but so glad to hear she has been surrounded by such a large and loving family. I will continue to think of her and can picture her dancing and running about, playing as she chooses. I pray that her wonderful spirit will continue to watch over you and warm your heart when you need it the most. God be with you during all of your times of need.
