I knew Mike from the USAF Academy, the prep school and the club Los Padrinos. He was a great person and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Jodi and the family.

To the Ramirez family, I hope that God gives you peace through this difficult time. Michael was a friend, colleague and a mentor to myself. We would FaceTime at least once or twice a month and he would listen to me, no matter how big or small my problem seem to be. I knew that he would shoot me straight and talk me off the ledge when I needed it.I will definitely miss those talks and chats we had. I would also like for you to know how he loved to talk about his family. He always expressed his love for his wife and how proud he was of all his boys. This was so hard to hear. I served with Mike as an Admissions Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy. Mike was the absolute best ALO we had in Minnesota. He was so enthusiastic about helping great kids and molding the future leaders of the nation. He was full of energy and inspired all of us.

I will forever treasure the time I was able to spend with Michael. He was such a gentleman, a fellow Air Force Officer and above all the husband, dad, son and role model for all men to emulate. Words alone can’t express the love he shared. I never in million years thought he would be gone from this earth in days of being told he was very ill. The Ramirez family included my family in their busy lives. Michael called me Aunt Mary, a title I will always cherish. RIP Michael.

Michael was a bright light in the USAF and in the ALO program where I worked with him. He left his signature on so many in the program, both in the liaison officers he worked with, as well as the candidates that he interacted with. He always had an upbeat attitude and worked to find solutions to any problem. I was incredibly shocked when I heard about your loss. My heart aches for your family. It was so wonderful seeing you both at Rissa’s wedding. Mike was exactly as I remembered him and it was a special moment seeing you all together again. You are all in my prayers.

I had the pleasure to spend time with Michael on the road all over the world. He had a way about him that would just make you feel comfortable, like you knew him your whole life. I worked with Michael for many years within Diagnostics; he was a great sales leader as his default was to always do what was necessary to make it right with the customer, and he treated his customers like he treated his friends and family- always put them first.

I had the privilege of working with Michael for the last almost 8 years. He was such a wonderful, warm, kind and always caring person and it did not matter that we were sitting thousands kilometers away from each other. There are countless memories we build and successes we shared for which I am forever grateful.

I met Mike at the USAF; I knew both he & Jodi during our time at the zoo, and when we were stationed in LA. I considered them both friends & am saddened to hear of his death.

Michael was my customer, but also my friend. I was his barber until I moved out of Minnesota. He loved his family so much! I remember him talking about Jodi and his boys and how proud he was! I also remember us talking about the most important part of life, our Lord. I’m shocked he’s gone. He was a person that just made every place better with his presence, a true friend. He was a person who always fought on the side of goodness, truth, family, and love. Outside of haircutting we’d talk the entire time. I went through some personal stuff and like a big brother or young Uncle he advised me, but advised me through that wonderful goodness and love of God he always had. I hurt for his family and truly we should all hurt for the world because we certainly lost one of the very best. My sympathies.
