Mel Huss

Melanie Kay Busch-Huss, age 28, of Jordan, MN, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan. An additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 18, from 10-10:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11 am, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside. Pallbearers will be Kris Busch, Reese Busch, Mathew Huss, Michael Huss, Martin Huss, and Andrew Huss. A private family interment at St. John Calvary Cemetery.

The adventurous world of Melanie began in Shakopee, MN, on May 20, 1993. Through the years, she received so much love from her parents, who cared for Melanie as she grew up. Melanie spent most of her years growing up on the farm in Jordan. Each day was a new day filled with adventure and memories. Some of Melanie’s fondest recollections were going camping up north, where she enjoyed canoeing, fishing, swimming, and the company of family. Melanie too enjoyed the sailing excursions in the southern United States, swimming, snorkeling and again fishing. She had countless life experiences growing up on the farm. She loved the freedom to run and explore and play ball, go on scavenger hunts, and have kitty races. Melanie also learned the value of hard work, dedication, and the meaning of family.

As a young girl, Melanie enjoyed being active in sports and was a great athlete. She first enjoyed playing T-ball, which later led to youth softball, volleyball, and tennis. With her entire family at her side, Melanie graduated from Jordan High School in 2011. Taking her knowledge of farming, Melanie worked at Bongards Cheese Shop and Le Sueur Cheese Factory. She even waitressed for a while. Melanie forever felt the need to return to her roots of working God’s land…the earth. As a little girl, Melanie was constantly covered in dirt from head to toe. She was so proud of buying a truck, a wheelbarrow, and a shovel, to begin a new venture in landscaping. In Melanie’s spare time, she loved crafting, working with flowers, writing, and journaling.

The true essence of Melanie was her personality. She had this great goofy sense of humor. Melanie loved making people laugh. She was never afraid to try anything and continually had your best interest in mind. Melanie was genuine and never was jealous of what others might have in material items.

Throughout her life, Melanie faced many challenges and struggles. Her mental health was something she worked very hard at, along with her ongoing recovery from addiction. Melanie’s journey taught her how to live one day at a time and the importance of service to others. Melanie had a strong faith in God and leaned on his guidance and strength daily. But He had other plans and called her home to Heaven.

Melanie had this beautiful soul. Each relationship was precious to her. Melanie loved being a mother to Lilly, Koda and JJ. She cherished their love and tried to be active in their life. Melanie was a daughter to Kris (Miranda) Busch, Carrie Becker, Marty and Lori Huss. She is the devoted sister of Paige (Jonathan Charpentier) Busch-Huss, Sabrina Underwood, Matthew (Ruth DeFoster) Huss, Andrew (Angie) Huss, Michael Huss, Martin Huss, Reese Busch, Jackie Busch; grandparents, Mary Busch, Darlene (Craig Marty) Wreck, Roberta Latham, Randy Reis; countless nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many devoted friends.

Greeting Melanie home in eternal peace are her grandparents, Gerald Busch, Wally and Mary Huss, Helen Ross, and William Degree.

I remember Melanie as a little girl, running around with a Chucky doll that was almost as big as she was. Last time I spoke with Melanie was a few years ago, and she was happy and healthy.

My condolences to her family and friends. Melanie truly was a special soul.

Condolence from Lisa D on May 17th, 2022 8:43 pm

What a beautiful tribute. Melanie was surely loved. May you also feel loved and held by our Heavenly Father as you navigate this devastating time. Not only in the loss of your daughter , but the days to come in raising up her children…I had the joy of knowing Lilly at St John’s when my son attended – such a God-Breathed angel. May Jesus take her by the hand and lead her. Reminding her of these words in Philippeans 4:13 – ‘I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me’. Wrapping prayer around you all, may you find strength in your Faith, and warmth in the memories.
