Margaret Ellen Heinz, age 84, of Shakopee, MN, entered eternal peace on Christmas Eve morning, December 24, 2019, at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home, Belle Plaine, MN.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 29, from 2-4 pm and on Monday, December 30, from 10-11 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, all at St. Mary of the Purification (The Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne) 15830 Marystown Road, Shakopee, MN. Father Erik Lundgren will preside. Margaret will be laid to rest at St Mary’s of Marystown Catholic Cemetery. Memorials preferred and will be distributed in Margaret’s memory by the family.
Margaret was born on March 24, 1935, in Henderson, MN, to Francis and Margaret (Traxler) Skelly. She married John Edward Heinz, on October 26, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Henderson, MN. They were blessed with three sons, David, Tony and Mike.
Living a simple life, Margaret liked gardening, the Minnesota Twins and volunteering at St. Francis Regional Medical Center. After the passing of John, on January 1, 1985, she had several occasions to travel extensively throughout Europe and even enjoyed an Alaska cruise. Margaret’s greatest passion was being surrounded by family. She took a strong interest in all of the grandchildren lives.
Margaret had a great sense of humor. She was full of life and often spoke, “You can make plans and God laughs!” Meaning you can plan all you want, but don’t be surprised when things go a different direction, for God has control over your life.
Forever loved and missed by sons, David (Lori) Heinz, Tony Heinz, Mike (Karina) Heinz; grandchildren, Nathan (Kayla) Heinz, Jessica (Mike) Hartmann, Katherine Heinz, John Michael Heinz; great-grandchildren, Ellie Hartmann, Austin Heinz; sister, Mary Bruneau; other relatives and friends.
There to welcome Margaret in eternal peace is her husband John; infant son, Nicholas Heinz, parents, Francis and Margaret Skelly; brothers, Jerry (Lela) Skelly, John (Meg) Skelly and brother-in-law, Harry Bruneau.

Print Obituary & CondolencesLori my deepest condolences to you and your family at this very difficult time. May God Bless you and Give you Peace.
may God give you strength at this difficult time
I always enjoyed your Mom when I saw her she was always a good friend to my Mom. My sympathy and prayers are with you. She will be missed
To Margarets family,
I was so sorry to hear about Margaret passing. Margaret was certainly the “life” of the neighborhood. Not sure who could have loved Halloween more than Margaret as I remember her dressing up and trick or treating. I have pictures of neighborhood kids on a picnic table in your yard and every time I come across it I smile at the fun memories I have of your family and especially Margaret!! I am sure that as you remember Margaret in the days and years to come that you will feel a smile in your heart as you recall your mom’s life!!
My sympathies to the family. I knew Margaret since the first day I started working at Scott County back in 1984. She was always full of fun — had a joke or humorous remark for every occasion. She
was an inspiration as she was very dedicated to her work and her clients. They were very lucky to have had Margaret on their team. I last ran into her in Jordan a few years back. She will be greatly missed. She was a “one-of-a-kind” person who I was blessed to have graced my life for a short while.
I worked with Margaret when she was a Home Health Aide for Scott County. A kinder and gentler soul never existed. Her sense of humor could get her through any circumstance. Her clients got better because of her skill and personality.
I am so sorry for your loss.
David, Tony, Mike. I am saddened and so sorry I was not able to honor your mom by being present at her memorial. Several weeks ago I opened Ione’s recipe box and found the recipe for Margaret Heinz’s overnight cookies. Thought twice to call her and regret I didn’t make the time. I will never forget the antics those two girlfriends played in and on our Market Street neighborhood. Like Lucy and Ethel. All good fun and a lesson in the best of treasured friendships.
My sincere condolences… Barb

I knew Margaret from Scott County. After she left there, I connected her with my aunt who knew of someone who needed help in their home. We met for lunches many times afterwards with other former Scott County employees. Margaret was always so much fun to be with because of her great sense of humor. She will be missed.
