LuVella Marlys Schroeder, age 83, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully at NorBella Assisted Living on November 2, 2022, one day before she would turn 84, after a long and courageous battle with lung disease.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 9, at 11 am, with a time of gathering from 10-10:45 am, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 5634 Luther Road SE, Prior Lake. Pastor Greg DeMuth will preside. LuVella will be laid to rest at St Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

On November 3, 1938, LuVella was blessed to Otto and Esther (Schauer) Schroeder, on the family farm in New Auburn Township, MN. The Schroeder’s moved to Prior Lake, where they joined Immanuel Lutheran Church. Here, LuVella was confirmed and completed her first 8 years of school in May 1952. She later graduated from Prior Lake High School, in 1956.

Shortly after graduation, LuVella and her best friend Delores went job hunting in Minneapolis and then to St Paul, where her first stop was the last. LuVella asked for a typist’s job but was offered one as a key puncher at St Paul Fire and Marine, later known as St. Paul Companies, Inc. Accepting the position as a key puncher, she climbed the ladder to a tap machine operator, payroll clerk, head payroll clerk and finally to supervisor of payroll department. LuVella was awarded the “People Difference” award in 1987 for exemplifying the 7 foundations blocks of “People Difference Shining Through” – persistence, communication, understanding, cooperation, professionalism, balance, and praise. She retired after 33 years of services as a valved employee. While in retirement, LuVella worked part time at a Hallmark store and as a cashier at Burger King.

LuVella loved traveling and enjoying many memorable trips with great friends and family. Over the years, she had journeyed throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Alaska. LuVella also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She will be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor, who always brought a smile to everyone’s face.

LuVella will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of her sister-in-law, Lana Schroeder: nieces and nephews, Steven (Barb) Borchardt, Sandy (Jim) Ross, Karen Brinkman, David Schroeder, Kevin Schroeder, Becky Schroeder, Bryon (Maria) Schroeder, Brent Schroeder, Bruce Schroeder; other relatives and friends.

Greeted LuVella home in Heaven are her parents, Otto and Esther Schroeder; brothers, Eldon “Bud” (Delores) Schroeder, Donald Schroeder; sister, Glendora (Delbert) Borchardt; and nephew, Justin Ross.

LuVella was one of the sweetest persons that I know. We met when she worked at the Hallmark shop in Brooksville Mall. Then she started having me cut her hair. She will be missed.
