Loraine K. Czech

Loraine K. (Jents) Czech was born on June 27, 1923 to parents George and Pauline (Oldenburg) Jents in Henderson, MN. She was the second oldest of six children. In her teen years, Loraine’s mother died and she moved to S. Minneapolis to be with her aunt Amanda and uncle Peder. She worked in their greenhouse (Minnehaha Greenhouse) doing various tasks while attending Vocational high school where she later graduated.

Following high school graduation, she continued to work at the greenhouse and at the same time she met her future husband, Ambrose Czech. After a period of courtship they were married on January 21, 1948 at St. Helena Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Soon after came their four children, Paula, Steven, Michael and Joseph.

After their marriage, Ambrose began working at the greenhouse and after a short period of time they became the owner and operators of the business. After many years of hard work, they sold the business in 1975 and built a home on Prior Lake which is where Loraine and Ambrose lived until both of their deaths. This was the gathering place for much of the family as they all enjoyed the lake together. Loraine spent many years working at Mount Sinai hospital as a health unit coordinator until her retirement.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, lawn work, embroidery, cross stich, and baking lots of cookies at Christmas. She loved being around her family, reciting the bible and her daily morning devotion of prayer.

Known as being non-judgmental, a caregiver to many and a woman of faith, Loraine entered god’s arms on the morning of Sunday, January 13, 2013 with her family by her side at the age of 89.

Forever loved, Loraine will be deeply missed by her children, Paula Whitaker of Prior Lake, Steven (Diane) Czech of Prior Lake, Michael (Gail) Czech of Prior Lake, Joseph (Pam) Czech of Burnsville; 9 grandchildren, Christopher and Peter Whitaker, Bennett and Carter Czech, Katie Czech, Sarah Rehovsky, Leah Dexter, Mick Czech, Amber Czech; 11 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Hailey, Mariah, Maison, Spencer, Shelby, Ayden, Evan, Tatum, Molly, Lucy; sister, Marion Adams of LeSueur; many other loving relatives and friends.

Loraine is preceded in death by her husband, Ambrose Czech; parents, George and Pauline (Oldenburg) Jents; daughter in law, Joleen Czech; brother, Rocky Jents; sisters, June (Al) Schultz, Dorothy (Corky) Ehlers, Loretta (Lloyd) Ehlers; brother in law, Louie Adams.

Loraine’s pall bearers will be Steven Czech, Michael Czech, Joseph Czech, Bennett Czech, Carter Czech, Michael Czech.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 4:00 – 7:00 p. m., at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the Church of St. Michael, 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. A private interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery where Loraine will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ambrose.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.

The Czech family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake Chapel.
