WEB Lois Will

The afternoon of June 1, 2016, Lois Agnes Will went home to be with her Lord, at the age of 94. A longtime resident of Jordan, her family was present at her bedside at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 5 at 3 pm, with family greeting guests starting at 1 pm, all at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church, Prior Lake, MN. Pastor Brent Parrish will lead the service and her nephews, Quentin Will, Justin Will, Brian Blohm, Michael Blohm, David Blohm and Bob Norman will act as pallbearers. She will be laid to rest at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Otto and Clara (Klingberg) Borchardt proudly announced the birth of their baby girl, Lois, on March 20, 1922. She was the second of seven children born and raised on the family farm in Credit River Township, MN. Growing up during the depression meant as a family, they worked hard, were thankful for the little things in life and you leaned on your family and faith to survive. All of these characteristics Lois lead by example throughout her life.

After graduating from the Credit River Country School in the eighth grade, Lois worked various jobs over the years. She stacked lumber at the local lumberyard, worked over night shifts stamping out parts for the war, worked at Continental Machines in Savage and even sold clothes for Sears and Roebuck, for a time period. Lois dedicated most of her life working God’s earth as a farmer.

Lois’s life was enriched by meeting her true love, Carl Edward Will. On October 26, 1949, they declared their love at Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church, Prior Lake, MN. After honeymooning in Remer, MN, Lois and Carl settled their roots on a farm in rural Jordan. They were blessed with a beautiful son named Edward. Growing up an only child, he quickly learned the values and morals passed on from his parents.

Working side by side on the farm, Lois and Carl were able to enjoy an occasional evening going out to eat, after the chores were completed. On December 13, 1978, her beloved husband of only 30 years passed away. Lois, Edward and his wife Cynthia and their children Kristy and Gerhard continued on farming. In 1992, the cows were sold eliminating some of the work. This allowed the entire family to enjoy vacations to Disney World, St Louis, Black Hills, Graceland, Las Vegas, California, Duluth and eventually seeing her granddaughter get married in Hawaii.

Lois had other interests too. She loved her cats, watching the birds and completing word finds. Lois enjoyed working side by side with Cindy making wedding cakes. She loved spending time with her sisters, Doris and Phyllis catching up on the latest news and especially wearing matching outfits at Christmas. Lois relished the most being a grandma. Living in the same house with Kristy and Gerhard allowed her to be very active in their lives. Lois was like their second mother! On May 20, 2016, she was so proud to watch her grandson, Gerhard get married. Over the last year, Lois was able to stay in her home with the help of her Personal Caregiver Rhonda.

Lois had many amazing qualities. She was a talented seamstress. She was an incredible canner, cook and baker. She was the family’s historian, with everything Lois kept. A second mother to many, her front door was always open, food on the table and an ear for listening. Devoted to her faith, Lois was also quiet, generous, considerate and most of all put others needs first before her own. She will be forever remembered for her famous words…”Oh my stars”

Forever missed, Lois will be forever loved by son, Edward (Cynthia) Will; grandchildren Kristy (Robb) Mapplebeck, Gerhard (Tasha) Will; step great-grandchildren, Craig and Michael Mapplebeck; sisters, Doris Malz, Phyllis Rowe; sister-in-law, Verna Mae Borchardt; many relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by husband, Carl Edward Will; siblings, Fern (Lester) Blohm, Floyd (Nora) Borchardt, Delbert (Glendora) Borchardt, Donald Borchardt; brothers-in-law; Raymond Malz and Harold Rowe.
