A life-long resident of Belle Plaine, MN, Lloyd Charles Oldenburg, age 86, passed away peacefully into the arms of God, the late afternoon of Father’s Days, June 15, 2014, with his family present, at the Gardenview Nursing Home, in Le Sueur, MN. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, June 19 at 5 pm, with visitation one hour prior, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation; 104 First Street West; Jordan, MN. Pastor Kent Meyer will preside. Urn bearers will be grandchildren, Karen Holicky, Gina Flaspeter and Josh Oldenburg.

Gracing this world on September 30, 1927, in Belle Plaine, MN, Lloyd was born to parents August and Alma (Holtz) Oldenburg. He grew up on the family farm which had been homesteaded in 1863 by his great grandfather. Lloyd grew up with sisters Verna and Lenora and remained on the family farm to raise his own family. A father to Robert, LuAnn, and Randy, he continued to farm the family homestead and sold seed corn throughout the 5 state area. He enjoyed being with his family, gardening, watching the Twins, and cooking.

Left to honor and celebrate Lloyd’s life is children, Robert Oldenburg, LuAnn (Jerome) Flaspeter, Randy (Jane) Oldenburg; grandchildren, Karen (Matt) Holicky, Gina Flaspeter, Josh Oldenburg, Elisha (Jake) Theisen, Laura Oldenburg, Julie (fiancé Dustin Brabec) Oldenburg; great-grandchildren, Trevor Holicky, Ryan Wilmes, Courtney Wilmes, Natalie Theisen, Dillion Theisen, Kinley Brabec; other loving relatives and friends.

Preceded in death and there to welcome Lloyd home in heaven is his parents; sisters, Verna, Lenora, Arlene, and brother Arvid; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Oldenburg and grandson, William Oldenburg.
