Lenox “Len” Davidson, of Prior Lake (formerly Apple Valley), passed away October 27, 2019 at the age of 88. He will be deeply missed by all who love him. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE) in Prior Lake. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at St. Michael Catholic Church (16400 Duluth Avenue SE) in Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside, and Len’s grandchildren will act as urn bearers. Len will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

On July 28, 1931, Lenox William Davidson was born to William & Esther (Donahue) Davidson. Len was the oldest of two boys. He and his brother Charlie were very close. Len’s lifelong love of the North Shore was started as a boy as his family took annual trips to Duluth. In high school, Len was a talented athlete. He excelled in every sport he played; including, Football, Baseball, Basketball and Track.

After graduating from Anoka High School, Len enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country as Machinist Mate First Class aboard the USS Essex Carrier during the Korean War. After four years of dedicated service, Len was honorably discharged.

Following his service, Len completed business school and earned his accounting degree. For the rest of his life, Len was a self-employed tax accountant. He frequently did contract work for large companies, but he always made sure to have time for his 75+ personal clients. Len was an extremely hard worker and loyally dedicated to clients.

It was through one of his clients that Len met the love of his life, Becky Hill. Len & Becky’s love grew quickly. They exchanged wedding vows and settled in Apple Valley to raise a family. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Laurel & Kelly. Len also had a son from a previous relationship. Although they weren’t in touch for many years, Len always carried love in his heart for his son, Jimmy.

Len was truly a family-man. He volunteered to be a scout leader when Kelly joined the Boy Scouts and coached Laurel’s track team. Len had a fierce competitor’s heart, and he passed this on to his children. Although most weekends were consumed with the kids’ sporting events, Len always found time to take the entire family out for a nice dinner. They especially enjoyed dinners at Mancini’s.

When the kids were grown, Len made sure to treat Becky to a fine-dining date at least once a week. They knew all the hot spots in town, but also enjoyed patronizing some of their favorite downtown spots, like Charlie’s.

In his free time, Len enjoyed cheering on the Golden Gophers & the Fighting Irish. Len also invested a lot of time into his friendships. He was a true and loyal friend. It helped that he had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around.

To Len, family and faith were the most important things. He was a devout Christian, wonderful husband, loving father and the best grandpa! He had a special relationship with each of his grandkids. Len also had a lot of love for his dog. Luci stole his heart and was a loving companion the last years of his life.

Len was a quiet man, but his actions spoke volumes. He taught his family about loyalty, determination and love. He will be deeply missed and remembered always by his wife, Becky Davidson; children, Laurel (Brian) Famigletti & Kelly (Whitney) Davidson and Jim (Patty) Davidson; grandchildren, Sofia, Landon & Charlotte and Gus & Ike and Jason & Nicholas; great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Margie) Davidson. Len was greeted in Heaven by his parents, William & Esther Davidson.

Condolence from Jan Alswager on October 29th, 2019 2:33 pm

Becky and family, we are thinking of all of you at this difficult time. Over the years Len has made us laugh at his funny comments and we have thoroughly enjoyed wonderful dinners and conversations with Len and Becky. We will miss Len. I remember when Lucci, your dog, was new to the family. Len made a lot of comments about Becky’s new dog.and shake his head in that Len kind of way. But we all know that Lucci and Len were inseparable and became fast friends.

It was clear that Len had enormous love for Becky, his kids and grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

Love and peace to you all!

Jan and Gary

Condolence from Bob & Dianne Elmer on October 29th, 2019 6:35 pm

It is hard to say goodbye to a wonderful friend who has been as reliable as a fine jewel watch. In our relationship we often wondered how he could always be so “up beat” all the time. His sense of humor
was also sparkling and when finished our taxes every year he would always pass on how well we were
going to look in those bright orange jumpsuits. Len always seemed grateful for the little things in life. We spent many wonderful evenings with Becky and Len, and we so enjoyed his dry humor. Over the past several years Len always commented on how well Becky was caring for him and his special needs.
His friendship will remain in our hearts for ever.
