Kimberly Jo Loring was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to many. She was always there for those she loved. Nothing brought a smile to her face faster than giving her an opportunity to talk about her boys. She was a mom of boys. Kim loved being there for all of Zach and Luke’s athletic activities, from soccer to baseball. She was always their number #1 fan, no matter the outcome. Kim was firm yet empathetic and always had a smile on her face. Kim had “the gift of gab” and loved the color yellow and Kansas sunflowers. Kim loved going on “girl” trips with her friends and enjoyed spending a summer day on a lake. She also loved music and going to country concerts. She was happiest sitting on a warm beach with a cold drink in her hand. A cardinal had a special meaning to her as it was how she connected with her mom; I know my mom will live through them.

Kim immediately lit up the room she entered and impacted many people. She was a joyful soul with a personality to match. She filled her home with warmth and kindness, which was essential to her. We want her celebration of life to be full of vibrancy, color (yellow), and her favorite music. We will miss her greatly.

Kim was born in Great Bend, KS, to Larry and Joan Vink on June 1, 1971. After graduating from Seaman High School in 1989 in Topeka, KS, she attended Washburn University before pursuing a career. Starting off at Menninger Video Productions, then at BNSF Railway Co. as a dispatcher, Kim later owned and operated the Lake Store in Prior Lake for several years before taking a sales operations role with LeGrand.

In 1993, she met Eric Loring on a “blind date,” and they were engaged in 1994. They were married in 1995. Together they had two boys, Zach in 1998 and Luke in 2001. Kim and Eric dreamed of all the places they would travel and the experiences they would share together as a family.

Kim loved her family and her boys more than anything.

Kim is loved and missed by her husband, Eric and their sons, Zach Loring (Amanda Arensdorf) and Luke Loring; sisters, Marilyn Fairchild, Jane Rice, Brenda Wilson; sister-in-law, Norma Vink; In-laws, Butch and Cheryl Loring; brother-in-law, Thane (Emily) Loring; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends. Kim is preceded in death by her parents; Larry and Joan Vink; brother, Richard Vink, and her brothers-in-law, Ron Fairchild, George Rice, and Greg Wilson.

To all of Kim’s friends: You have shown kindness in multitudes—through your words, your actions, and your presence. Thank you for your love and support throughout Kim’s journey. Our family is forever grateful for each and every one of you.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to support Mayo Clinic Cancer Research. Donations to The Mayo Clinic Cancer Research can be made directly or sent to Eric Loring. Donations can also be sent via Venmo to @loringe.

Eric, Zachary and Luke,
I watched the service today, brought back so many memories. What a beautiful tribute to Kim today! I wish I could of been there, but health held me away. My prayers are with you in the days to come. Be strong for one another, Kim would want that for you! Not going to deny it, it is hard for sure, just take one day at a time, keep talking to her, she hears you, it does help. My heart just breaks what you have endured during this time. God is with you. Much Love, Norma
