WEB Karl Kruggel

Karl David Kruggel, 45, of New Prague, MN, peacefully passed away after a battle with cancer on February 29, 2016. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 5PM with a visitation one-hour prior at Christ Lutheran Church, 1930 Diffley Road, Eagan.

Karl was known for his stubborn ways and sense of humor, but even more so for his unselfish devotion to family and friends. Words cannot describe how important family gatherings were to him—be it a day of trap shooting with his cousin Gary and the crew, a drink at the local watering hole, or simply an afternoon of visiting and playing cards with Aunt Delores and all the relatives.

Karl was a dedicated leader with the Mystic Lake Casino Security team for the past 25 years and was recently elected to the Dakota Curling Club’s Board of Directors. His dry wit and sarcasm will forever be missed, but never forgotten.

Karl is survived by his adoring wife, Jennifer; father, David; sisters, Kay Savacool and Lori (Jeff) Benjamin; brother, Kim Riebe (Kimmer); aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his doting mother, Arlene, and hunting buddy, “Dodger.”

Our family would like to extend their utmost love and appreciation to Mike and Kim Wassmund for helping our family during this trying time. You are not just friends, you are family.

Condolences for the family of “Karl Kruggel”

Condolence from Patti Keiper on March 1st, 2016 8:17 am

I am sorry to hear the news of Karl’s passing. I knew Karl for five years while working for him as a security officer/EMT at Mystic Lake Casino. He was my favorite boss. Fun times were had in briefing with jokes and chats at the podium while passing by in between calls. New Year’s eve working nights were a special treat handling business under his team. He had the utmost respect for me. That quality of caring is rare in most people. Karl made a lasting impression on me of what integrity really means. He really cared for everybody and went the extra mile to make things work. He will be missed. But I will smile at all the memories. Thank you, Karl, for your friendship and advice over the years. Peace.

I will always remember how Karl looked out for others at the curling club. He was always willing to take jobs from others and help out wherever and however needed to help keep the club moving. We all liked and respected Karl because he was such a good guy who was always there to help and have fun. I know we will all miss his Chicago Blackhawk shenanigans. You have my deepest sympathies.
