Karen Edna Chimento, 80, of Prior Lake, passed away on December 2, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at Abbott Funeral Home and Cremation in Wabasha (236 2nd St. W) at 11am on Saturday, April 22. A visitation will be held prior from 9-11am.
Karen Edna Chimento was born November 19, 1942 in Pengilly, Mn, to Everett and Edna (Laird) Hertel. She spent her childhood in the Pengilly area where she was a 1960 graduate of Greenway High School. After graduation she attended the University of Minnesota Duluth where she graduated in 1964 with B.A. degrees in business and art. After graduation, she lived in: St, Paul, Mn., and Baldwinsville, NY., before settling back in Wabasha, Mn, where she actively enjoyed the natural surroundings.
She is survived by her two children, Brett Chimento, and Nicole Klein, along with two grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Everett and Edna Hertel along with three brothers: Keith Hertel, Duane Hertel, and Kenneth Hertel.

Brett and Nicole, I’m sorry for your loss. Your Mom was a big part of our family here at Faith Lutheran for many years. I always enjoyed visiting with her.
