On New Year’s Day of 1944, in Creston Iowa, Judy was born to parents, Boyd and Thelma (Bickford) Firkins. She was the middle child of five, growing up with siblings Carl, Sharon, Jean and Donna. Growing up in Greenfield, Iowa, Judy enjoyed spending time with her family. Judy was always the good girl, yet there were a few times while hanging out with cousins and friends that mischief was lurking around the corner. During high school, she enjoyed music and participated in band, dance band and sax quartet; mixed chorus, girls Glee and senior trio; cheerleading and yearbook.

After graduating from Greenfield High School in 1962, Judy married Davy Weaver and they settled in Omaha, NE. It was here, they were blessed with two daughters, Lori and Christi. In 1969, due to Davy’s job, the Weaver family made their new home in Prior Lake, MN.

Judy was an amazing mother and was always involved in her daughters’ lives. She enjoyed coaching softball, being a Campfire Girl Scout leader, and attending school activities. Judy also spent countless hours working in her flower and vegetable gardens, with canning the fruits of her labor. She was a gifted seamstress, enjoyed reading and golf, and was an excellent cook, who liked trying new recipes and restaurants. In 1981, Judy and Davy parted ways, but she remained active in life. Her time was filled by being a supportive, proud grandma! Judy was always busy attending their sporting and school activities.

Judy worked various jobs through her career. Her first adventure was working for Northwestern Bell, while living in Omaha. Moving to Minnesota, Judy worked many years in real estate for various companies. She was a realtor, worked in mortgage services and various other positions. After Judy retired, she loved to travel with family and friends. Judy enjoyed the trips to Europe, especially Italy. In the US, she visited Hawaii, California, Boston, New York, Florida, Colorado, with many short road trips in between. In Judy’s free time, she liked watching the birds and the squirrels.

Judy was very generous, understanding and protective. Judy was strong willed yet loved her family unconditionally. She is survived by daughters, Lori (Jeff) Stockwell, Christi Weaver; grandchildren, Ryne Stockwell, Brent Stockwell, Abby (Logan) Kemmerer; brother, Carl (Esther) Firkins; sisters, Jean Ashmore, Donna (Kerry) Mackerley; many nieces and nephews; beloved family dog, Sammi; other relatives and friends.

Lori and Christi;
We are so sad to hear about your Mom and losing our wonderful neighbor of 35 years. She was such an animal lover and our Gizmo and Lexi would always run to greet her when she was outside tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She always took time to chat and she would coordinate our lawn mowing so our lawns would flow together as one. She was such a kind and compassionate person and always spoke highly of her family which was important to her. We will truly miss our wonderful neighbor “Judy “.
Our thoughts and prayers will be with you.
