Jon David Fahrenkamp

Jon David Fahrenkamp was born on March 11, 1949, to parents Marlin and Elva (Gerdes) Fahrenkamp in New Prague, Minnesota. His childhood years were spent growing up on Prior Lake with brothers Dennis and Donald, sisters Jane, Kathy, Susan and Cindy. Jon attended Prior Lake Schools and graduated in 1967.

Most of Jon’s career was spent as an Inventory Specialist working in the computer industry at Seagate Technology for 35 years. Jon and Rebecca Vivant were married June 10, 1978 at St. James Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Minnesota. They were blessed with 3 children: Shawna, Annie Jo and William Jon.

Jon was a man of many talents and passions. When he was a young adult he fell in love with motorcycles and the open road. Jon and his friends would go on many unique escapades. He met his wife Becky and settled down on a farm in Lakeville in 1978 to start a family. By 1983, the family was established, and Jon was learning more and more about another passion, the art of farming. In 1989 Jon and Becky purchased land in Prior Lake and started a hobby farm from scratch.

Jon loved landscaping. He had big bountiful gardens, and would plant lots of fruit trees and flower beds. He found great satisfaction working the land. Another talent of Jon’s was mechanic work. He enjoyed working and maintaining his toys, which included his 1965 Thunderbird, his Honda Goldwing, as well as numerous tractors and equipment that he had owned throughout the years. In 2003 Jon and Becky moved up to Mille Lacs Lake where Jon continued with his skill of making land beautiful. Jon’s humor was unmistakable.

At the age of 64 as a resident of Isle, Minnesota Jon unexpectedly passed away at Mille Lacs Hospital, Onamia and entered God’s arms on the morning hours of Friday June 28, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Forever loved, Jon will be deeply missed by his wife, Rebecca ”Becky” Fahrenkamp of Isle, Minnesota; children, Shawna Vivant of Chaska, Minnesota, Annie Jo Fahrenkamp of Roseville, Minnesota, William Jon Fahrenkamp of St. Louis, Missouri; grandchildren, Beau Vivant and Maxwell Dengel; siblings, Dennis Fahrenkamp of Hernando, Mississippi, Donald Fahrenkamp of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Jane (Steven) Engel of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Kathleen (Wyatt) Reed, of Jordan, Minnesota, Susan (Rick) Buckles of Lakeville, Minnesota, Cindy Hagen of Minneapolis, Minnesota and many loving relatives and friends.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents, Marlin and Elva Fahrenkamp.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Edward Vivant Jr., Beau Hunter Vivant

Visitation is Tuesday July 2, 2013 from 4-7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372, and one hour prior to the service at church. The Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday July 3, 2013 11:00 AM, at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 3611 North Berens Road NW, Prior Lake, Minnesota 55372. Pastor Diana Hunstad will officiate. Jon will be laid to rest at Pliny Cemetery, McGrath, Minnesota.

Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Jon’s memory by the family. .

The Fahrenkamp family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake Chapel.
