Joan Brown, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at her residence at McKenna Crossing, in Prior Lake, MN. Joan’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at McKenna Crossing, for their love, support and amazing care of their mother and grandma.
A time of gathering will be held on Friday, June 21, from 10-12 pm, at McKenna Crossing, 13810 Shepherd’s Path NW, Prior Lake. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Joan’s memory by the family.
Joan was born on October 12, 1934, in Leominster, Massachusetts, to Armand and Bella (LaBonte) Ferrera. She was loved and raised by extended family, due to her mother’s passing when she was four years old.
Joan married Al Cormier and welcomed four daughters, Doreen, Dianne, Dottie and Debi. The family settled in New Hampshire before Joan and Al parted ways. Moving to Arizona, Joan met and married Carl Brown. Together, Joan and Carl enjoyed boating, fishing, and reading. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and baking. After Carl’s passing, Joan moved to the Prior Lake area, spending her last years at McKenna Crossing. She enjoyed the beautiful grounds, especially from her terrace, and her daily interactions with McKenna staff and friends.
Joan enjoyed her time with family, especially her grandchildren. She will be forever missed and cherished by daughters, Doreen McKee, Dianne Cormier, Dottie Cormier, Debi (Chuck, who was the beloved and devoted son she never had) Wilson; grandchildren, Michael Callicoat, Jordan Wilson, Emily Wilson; great-grandchildren, Dylan Callicoat, Janessa Callicoat; siblings, Marlene (Bill) Anderson, Raymond Ferrera; niece, Susan Suglia; other relatives and friends.
