Jerry Borowski was born on December 16, 1943 in Stanley, WI. He grew up in Hartland, WI and graduated from Hartford High School in 1962. Jerry was always interested in how things worked. He briefly had his own auto shop when he moved to Fennimore, WI, after marrying the love of his life Kathy. Jerry worked 30 years at John Deere in Dubuque, IA, as a welder. He took great pride in his work. After retiring Jerry moved to Davenport, IA and later to Solon, IA. He moved to Byron, MN where he had the opportunity to be closer to his Borowski family who loved him dearly.

Jerry Borowski is survived by his three sons: Brad, Brian (Dorinda) and Bret (Kristi) Borowski and his “fourth son” Craig (Sue) Howell as well as eight grandchildren: Samantha (Alysia), Brady (Chris), Jay (Noelle), Phoenix, Zander, Aidan, Mia and Macy as well as his brother Florian (Glenda) Borowski. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife and best friend Kathy Borowski, his parents Mary and John Borowski as well as his siblings Mark (Cheryl) Borowski, Joanne (Jack) Eckert and Theresa (John) Pomaranski.

Jerry enjoyed playing bingo as well as other games of chance whenever he could. He enjoyed euchre, Monopoly Deal (he’s not crying…), 500, gin rummy, solitaire, free cell, cribbage, tetris, chess, pinochle and poker.

He also enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his yearly trip to Canada where he had the opportunity to be one of the guys. Romey, as he was affectionately known, was responsible for keeping the fish camp in line and the cabin organized. He truly enjoyed his time on the water listening to music and talking smart. He could also be counted on for a good afternoon nap. Romey was always up for an adventure and liked seeing new fishing spots, until he would lose his jig in a snag which he would let everyone know that it was time to move on.

Jerry will best be remembered for being an organizer/fixer and letting you know how he liked things. He was kind, caring and was always willing to help out when he was able to. He was incredibly dependable and was someone we all counted on to help keep the peace in our family. He loved his family without question and shared his kindness, love and work ethic with all of us.

Jerry’s favorite quotes included: “What did you think was going to happen?,” “Nothing too serious,” “yeah right,” I worked at Deere for 30 years, I can spend my money any way I want.” Of course these quotes were edited to be appropriate for an obituary. Jerry’s ability to bring us all joy, especially when he was frustrated with his family will keep us all smiling for the rest of our lives.

He will be greatly missed by all those who really knew him, and for those who didn’t know him, he could truly care less.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 9th, 2024, 12-4PM, The Cottonwood, Fennimore, WI.
