A Visitation will be held for Jim on Monday, Mar 11, 2024from 4-7pm at Ballard Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake, 4565 Pleasant St SE. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, Mar 12, 2024starting at 11am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Prior Lake, 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, with one hour of visitation prior. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery following Mass.

On April 29, 1947 Willis and Anada Kuboushek welcomed their second child, Jim. After living a few years in Bloomington, the family moved to their new home in the country in Prior Lake. It was here that Jim learned to love the outdoors. Jim attended school in Prior Lake and while in high school he was involved in football, baseball and band.

After graduating in 1965 he attended St. Cloud State and received a bachelor’s degree in economics. Upon graduation in 1970 Jim enlisted as an officer in the US Navy flight program. He ended his military career in the Naval Reserve. After the military Jim began his employment as a special agent for the US Treasury where he worked for 30 years. After retiring, Jim enjoyed working at NorthStar Auto Auction, spending time in his garden, and traveling with Luanne to National parks, Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe.

In 1969, 10 years after meeting each other on the school bus, Jim and Luanne went on their first date. They were married June 19, 1971 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jason, Joe and Suzanne. Jim passed his love of the outdoors on to his family first at their cabin in Aitkin and finally at their beloved home on Pleasant Lake in Hackensack. He spent many years coaching his children’s baseball and softball teams. He loved attending all of their games, meets, and concerts.

In 2001, his first grandchild was born, and he became Papa. Nine more grandchildren followed, and nothing made Papa Jim happier than spending time with them at the lake and his hunting land in southern Minnesota. He was a regular at their sport events, concerts, and plays.

Loving and a great family leader, Jim will be missed greatly by his loving wife, Luanne Kuboushek; children, Jason (Terresa) Kuboushek, Joe (Keri) Kuboushek, and Suzanne (Ben) Britton; grandchildren, Emma, Abigail, Noah, Jonah, Tyler, Natalie, Andrew, Anna, Sam, and Molly; Siblings, Mary Ann Giles and Betty (Jerry) Veldhuis. Jim is preceded in death by parents, Willis and Anada (Felix) Kuboushek; and brother- In- law, Jerry Giles.

Jim and I spent many days catching Crappies in Prior Lake. Shooting ducks, strippers and crows around the fields and woods of Prior Lake. We followed
his Britney through the fields around Audie Annad’s and Uncle Willie’s properties! He taught me how to shoot strippers which we turned in the tails for money to buy more 22 shells to keep on hunting! As we got older we had many wrestling matches and once again he lead me into trails I may have never faced without him! He will remain in my prayers for ever!

My condolences to Luanne and family. I worked for many years with Jim and he was an excellent Agent. He usually knew the good hunting spots in our travels. He had a great sense of humor. I remember he was always easy going, helpful and knowledgeable. We had a mutual friend in Prior Lake – “Gumby” – and traded stories for many laughs.
