Jacklyn Ann Breault, of Shakopee (formerly of Hopkins) passed away peacefully on September 29, 2017 at the age of 92. Her family was by her side. Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, October 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at The Parish of Saints Joachim & Anne Catholic Church – St. Mary – in Shakopee. Father Paul Haverstock will preside. Jackie’s children will act as urn bearers, and she will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

John and Geraldine (Horrigan) LaValle celebrated the birth of their daughter Jacklyn on May 30, 1925. Jackie was the middle of three children, and she loved growing up in St. Paul with her siblings, Geraldine and Thomas. As a girl, Jackie enjoyed riding the cable cars, picking flowers and spending time with animals.

As a high school student, Jackie fell for one of the student teachers, Earl Breault. Whom she’d known since childhood. He was just a couple years older than she was, and they hit it off immediately. They exchanged wedding vows at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Paul on September 2, 1944.

Earl was serving in the military when they were married. Jackie was the only parent home to care for their children, but Jackie was a tough gal, and she was up for the job. After Earl was discharged, their family continued to grow. They were blessed with seven children, Cynthia, Gregg, Geoff, Shannon, Shelle’, Kevin, and Christopher.

Eventually their family settled in Hopkins. Jackie was a homemaker until her youngest was in school full time. Then she began working out of the home again. She got a job working in the cafeteria at the local school. She spent more than 30 years in the Hopkins school district before retiring. Jackie loved seeing the kids every day, and she always made sure every kid had a delicious lunch.

When she wasn’t working, Jackie spent a lot of time bowling. She was on many leagues throughout her life and often spent two days per week at the bowling alley. Jackie also enjoyed playing cards, games and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Hopkins VFW Auxiliary. She also had a passion for music. She enjoyed playing the organ and listening to her many CDs. Jackie was also a woman of strong faith. Throughout her life, she was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Paul, St. Joe’s Catholic Church in Hopkins and Saints Joachim & Anne in Shakopee.

Jackie was the ultimate caregiver, and she took care of both people and animals. Over the years she had goats, hawks, foxes, ducks, dogs and Jackie’s favorite…cats! Jackie loved animals her entire life, and she always did whatever she could to help any animal in need.

About seven years ago, Jackie moved to Shakopee to be closer to family. She got to spend more time with her grandkids which she loved. She always had a big bowl of candy waiting for them at her house, and loved to spoil them anyway she could. Jackie always took good care of herself. Even in her 90’s she would cook, clean and do her own laundry as she was very independent and self-sufficient.

Jackie was a kind and generous woman. She had a great sense of humor and could even be a little feisty at times. She will be remembered always for her big heart. Jackie is survived by her children, Cynthia Holtgrewe, Gregg (Mary) Breault, Geoff (Vicki) Breault, Shannon (Robert Kempf) Marohl, Shelle’ Hill, Kevin (Beth) Breault, Christopher (Sheila) Breault; 25 grandkids and 23 great-grandkids. Jackie is preceded by her husband, Earl Breault; parents, John & Geraldine LaValle; siblings, Geraldine Knodle and Thomas LaValle.
