Greg Keener, of Jordan, passed away on October 29, 2020 at the age of 59. He will be missed by all who loved him. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020 from 4:00 – 5:00 PM with closing words at 5:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (104 First Street West) in Jordan.

On April 1, 1961, Gregory Neil Keener was born to parents Larry & Joan (Hawkins) Keener. Greg was the middle of three kids. He loved growing up with his siblings, Lori & Mike. The Keener family lived in St. Joseph, Missouri until Greg was 9 years old. They then lived in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. As a boy, Greg loved to build things and especially enjoyed modifying bicycles and working on cars. He was very handy and was always working on some kind of project.

After graduating from High School in 1979, Greg began working. He always had a strong work ethic, and he put it to good use. In the mid 80’s, Greg moved to Minnesota and settled in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. He earned his Associate’s Degree and started a business. Greg was the proud owner and operator of Pest Control Services. He ran this company for many years before selling it and retiring due to health reasons. During his working years, he poured his heart and soul into the business.

Throughout his whole life, Greg worked hard to provide a good life for his family. Greg was blessed with three daughters, Jamie, Nicole and Taylor. He was a single dad and always did the best he could for his girls. Greg was a very caring and generous man. He was a true caretaker and was always looking out for others. Greg had multiple step-children that he cared for as his own.

In his free time, Greg loved going to the casino to play Multi Card Keno. Over the years, he took many trips to Laughlin, NV as his winter getaway. His last gambling trip was to Diamond Joe’s Casino with his brother Mike; they made some great memories together. Greg’s real passions were camping, fishing and being outdoors enjoying nature. He loved the RV lifestyle and spent many summers camping in South Dakota. Greg was a true jokester and had a great sense of humor.

Greg was very giving and soft-hearted. He was a good friend and will be missed by many. Greg will be remembered always by his children, Jamie Keener, Nicole Keener, Taylor (Ben) Vickery & Danny Downing; grandkids, Ariella, Bobbi, Michael & Jameson; mom, Joan Keener; siblings, Lori (Jon) Oehlerking and Michael (Rhonda) Keener; many nieces & nephews; extended family, Julie Mielke & family and Tami Montgomery & family; other loving relatives and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his dad, Larry Keener and grandson, Anthony.

Greg was like a second dad for me growing up! He was there to rake both Nicole and I over the coals when we messed up. He was the hardest working man and had such a giving heart! He loved his kids so fiercely and I know he loved his grand kids with the same intensity! He was such a raw truthful person that you could go to with any problems.
