Eugene “Gene” Hartse

At the age of 66, Gene Hartse sadly left his family unexpectedly on March 2, 2024.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 4-6 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN.

Eugene Edward and best known as Gene was born on June 15, 1957, in Minneapolis, MN to Larry Sr. and June (Tolan) Hartse. He attended Southwest High School, where Gene participated in football and hockey. After graduating from high school, he spent most of his 35-year career as an Operating Engineer.

Life was enriched for Gene meeting and marrying the love of his life Christee Lee Kissell on September 17. 1977, in Minneapolis, MN. They were blessed with two children, Lisa and Nick.

Gene lived a simple life. He found enjoyment playing cards with family and friends, reading a good book, and taking on the challenge of crossword puzzles. Gene loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He appreciated new formed friendships at Club Prior and participated in all their activities. Gene was also a member of Local 35 and First Responders.

Gene Hartse was a beloved husband and dad. He was compassionate and hardworking. Gene had an amazing personality that filled the room with humor, laughter, and sass.

Gene will be forever loved and missed by wife, Chris Hartse; children, Lisa (Pete) Howlett; son, Nick Hartse; sister, Pat; brother, Glenn; other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and June; siblings, Larry, Bev and Dale.

I am sorry Gene had left so soon, he will be missed. Gene always was known to be involved very much in family. He has left plenty of memories and is now in peace. May there be comfort he left with each of you his love to hold onto till you see eachother again.
