Doris Sarah Abdul Haqq

Doris Sarah Abdul-Haqq, most beloved wife and mother, went to be with the Lord Jesus on December 22, 2014.

The Celebration of Life Service is Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 12:30 PM with visitation from 12:00 – 12:30 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, Prior Lake. Private family interment will take place on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights.

Doris was born in northern India in 1929 she went on to become a noted physician, professor of surgery, and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinborough Scotland. She served the Lord faithfully as a missionary in India and Israel, before embarking on the great adventure of making a home for her recently widowed husband and raising eight children, for whom she left both career and country. She will be most remembered for her simple and powerful faith in Jesus Christ, which she demonstrated so clearly. It is through this constant faith and service that she also shared in the calling and work of her husband, who served the Lord as an Associate Evangelist, with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Akbar Abdul-Haqq of Prior Lake, MN and eight children: Miriam Prabhakar of Narsupur, India; Eb (Terri) Abdul-Haqq of Ballston Spa, New York; Emanuel (Jill) Abdul-Haqq of Belchertown, Massachusetts; Deborah Haqq of Burnsville, MN; David (Jan) Abdul- Haqq of Lutz, Florida; Hannah (Anand) Jillella of Atlanta, Georgia; Elisheba (Mark) Stevens of Belle Mead, New Jersey; and Jonathan (Rachel) Abdul-Haqq of Prior Lake, MN. She is further survived by 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren as well as one sister, Primrose Dinan, and one brother Ashish Sohan-Lal both of Toronto, Ontario.

Condolences for the family of “Doris Sarah Abdul-Haqq”

Condolence from Anita on December 26th, 2014 8:22 pm

Aunty Doris, I, like all who met you, will miss you forever. I am so grateful for being born into your family and having all the memories I have of you. I treasure all the times we were together and all the times we weren’t but spoke on the phone. You had the most beautiful laugh and the kindest spirit. When I was troubled, you listened. You shared and you consoled. You counselled without judgement and loved without reserve.

When I tell people of you, I have always said you lived with great grace. You were my mentor and I loved you. I feel lost knowing you are gone, but will pull on all the wisdom you dispatched over the years and the example you set. I will find solace in the fact that you are at peace and with all who went before in heaven in the arms of the Lord.

My mom lost her other mom, her older sister and her best friend. I lost my aunt, my hero.

My love and condolences to all those you touched who loved and have now lost you.

“Grace was in all her steps, heav’n in her eye, in every gesture dignity and love.” John Milton
