WEB Dianne Roddie

Dianne Elizabeth Roddie, 54, of Prior Lake, MN passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. Her beloved daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law were by her side.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday, June 7 at 11 am, with time of gathering starting at 9:30 am, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN. Pastor Diana Hunstad will preside and Dianne’s urn bearers will be her daughter Amy and brother Alan.

Her parents Nathan and Agnes (Shedden) Roddie came from Scotland to the United States of America shortly after they were married. After a few years, they welcomed their first baby, Dianne. She was born on New Year’s Day of 1963 in Pittsfield, MA. Three and a half years later, they welcomed her little brother Alan into the family. Her father’s career took them to different parts of the East Coast. The family first lived in Massachusetts, then Virginia, before coming to the Minnesota. Their Midwest journey started them out in Burnsville, Minnesota, when she was finishing up grade school. That was followed by a move to Prior Lake during her early high school years where she graduated in 1981. She still remained close with many of her high school friends up until her passing.

Dianne lived her life to the fullest and in high gear. Along the way, she became a mother to her daughter Amy. The birth of her precious daughter grounded Dianne. Amy brought so much joy to her life. Dianne and Amy lived with her parents and followed her father’s job relocation to Wisconsin when Amy was a year old. They called the beautiful countryside of Hartland, WI, home for 11 years. Upon the closing of Dianne’s workplace there, she and Amy moved back to Prior Lake where her roots were.

Dianne had a great sense of humor and was a strong-willed, free spirit. She enjoyed being outdoors and going camping with her mother and daughter, going to the casino, and spending time with family and friends. Over the last 30 years, Dianne has found companionship in her friend, Bob Radoush. Together, they loved to spend time at his former cabin on land in the Mille Lacs area. They also enjoyed going fishing in various locations around central Minnesota. Becoming a grandma brought her the greatest joy. Dianne loved cuddling, playing and sharing special one on one looks with her granddaughter Audrey. She affectionately referred to her as her, “cutie pie.”

Through Dianne’s cancer journey, she had wonderful care from family and friends to help her make the most of her life. This meant the world to her and she was forever grateful. Dianne enjoyed the lighter side of life and wanted to have a good time. Now her legacy is left to be carried on in her daughter, Amy (Christopher) Uhrich; granddaughter, Audrey Uhrich; parents, Nathan and Agnes Roddie; brother, Alan (Michelle) Roddie; niece Taylor Roddie; significant other, Bob Radoush; and devoted friends.

She’ll have her grandparents and Uncle to welcome her into Heaven.

Condolence from Darleen Wasin (Dolly) on June 2nd, 2017 3:34 pm

Dianne had a certain something about her that I admired , I think it was her honest and direct way she was with people that made her unique. I worked with her at MTS for many years and have kept in contact with her when she left. I know she is watching over us all and I am looking forward to seeing her again when my time here is up. You fought a long fight brave to the very end.
She touched my life as I’m sure she did to many..
Thank you Dianne for being my friend we will meet again..

My thoughts and prayers go out to The Roddy family, and also Bob. They truly loved each other. I can’t even say in words how much I loved my good friend too and have remained friends since high school
I miss her already, especially her infectious laugh she had.
