Dave H. Plekkenpol, age 53, a lifelong resident of Shakopee, MN, passed unexpectedly on Monday, June 29, 2020, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, in Minneapolis, MN.
A graveside service honoring Dave will be held on Monday, July 6 at 10 am, at the Shakopee Catholic Cemetery, 830 Tenth Avenue West, Shakopee, MN. Masks will be required, and social distancing maintained. If you are unable to attend the gathering, condolence cards can be mailed to Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan, MN 55352.
David Harold was born on January 15, 1967, in Shakopee, the first of two children to parents Dallas and Marian (Berg) Plekkenpol. He graduated from Shakopee High School in 1985. Dave married Jodi Rae Breeggemann on July 17, 1999, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, in Shakopee. They were blessed with three children, Jacob, Matt and Jessica.
By day, Dave drove school bus for Palmer Bus Company, for 13 years. Just one month ago, he took a position at Cubs Foods, in the bakery department. The rest of Dave’s time was spent farming, which ran deep in his blood. He loved working the land and tending to the animals. Dave’s love for farming crossed over to be active with the Scott-Carver Threshers, attending Farm Fest and exploring the agricultural aspects, at the county fairs.
Dave lived a simple life. He was most at peace outside. When time allowed, Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing or just simply tinkering outdoors. He was kind, caring and loving. Dave was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh. Most importantly, his wife and children were Dave’s world and everything!
Forever loved, Dave will be missed by wife, Jodi; children Jacob, Matt, Jessica; parents, Dallas and Marian; sister, Sharon (Larry) Windschilt; nieces, Nicole, Ashley, Leigh; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. There to greet him home in heaven are his grandparents.

Sorry to hear about Dave. I will miss seeing him in Bus 14 and at Cub. I always enjoyed when he would bring his children to the bus station, I hope his daughter will continue to bring her Girl Scout cookie order by. My heart goes out to Jodi and the kids. He was a great guy.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I taught Matt and Jessica at Sweeney in 3rd grade and enjoyed when Dave would stop in and join activities in our classroom. My thoughts are with your family.
Dave was such an awesome co-worker and friend. Over the years I was able to meet his amazing wife and children. I’ll miss the invites to Passions play, our chats at Sweeney, and buying girl scout cookies from Jessica and already miss buying popcorn from Matthew. Please don’t ever forget us at the bus garage for Robert and I are here for you and the kids!
So sad to hear of David’s passing. I have fond memories of us ridding bikes, running through the cornfields and just getting into trouble. God bless David and the entire family . Prayers and thoughts as you go through this difficult time.
I was very sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. I enjoyed talking with him at Sweeney. What a great guy. My prayers are with the family.

Dear Jodie and family I could not believe it, I just saw Dave at the store we talked for a bit he was just finishing his shift. My deepest sympathy to you and the kids
Our hearts break for Dave’s life, cut short and for the loving family left behind. We have known him through church and school. Always a kind fellow, taking it upon himself to be a crossing guard in the frigid cold for the children going to Faith Formation. A loving husband and father.
My heart is heavy with sadness to learn that Dave’s time on earth was cut short. He was a very kind person & a damn good friend! The kind of friend that most would like to have. I will not forget you!!

Dear Jodie, Jacob, and Jessica, you have our deepest sorrow. I really miss saying hello after Mass when Dave was an usher. Please convey that my thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family. I know from my own experiances the difficluties you face. Again rely on the Lord to get your family thru this time, Jerry and Julie.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of such great guy at such a young age. It’s been years since I had his oldest son in my 3rd grade class, but Dave would always stop to chat anytime he was at Sweeney. He was one of the friendliest guys I knew. May he Rest In Peace!

I was hall monitor with Dave at religion class he was such a nice kind gentle guy. I was so surprised to find out he was gone.
