Dave Dennig Jr., age 50 of Prior Lake, passed away January 10, 2022. A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 2-4PM with concluding prayers at 4PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE., Prior Lake. Friends are invited to the Prior Lake VFW following services for a continued celebration of Dave’s life.

On September 13, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN parents David Sr. and Diane (Grossberg) Dennig celebrated the birth of their first child, David Michael Dennig Jr. He was the oldest of their four children to be raised in Bloomington. From a young age, Dave had a big personality and wholeheartedly lived up to the role of being a big brother.

Along with his siblings, Dave attended Nativity of Mary School in Bloomington and later graduated from Academy of Holy Angels in 1990. Wanting to further his education, Dave attended the University of North Dakota where he studied business and marketing. Dave’s charismatic and friendly attitude allowed him to excel in his career. A hardworking man, Dave worked in freight logistics at T Force Worldwide in Edina.

Dave was a loving son, brother, and uncle. He was the biggest supporter for his nephews, attending many sporting events and assisting with coaching hockey. Never shying away from an opportunity to help others, Dave enjoyed volunteering. He was a dedicated participant with the Special Olympics Polar Plunge and mentor with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Dave was especially proud of his involvement with the South Metro Miracle League, an organization providing disabled children and adults the opportunity to play baseball. He served as the scholarship & special events coordinator as well as a coach.

A friend to many, Dave loved socializing and was the life of the party! He fully embraced “going big or going home” especially when planning a family gathering. Despite life’s difficulties, like the early death of his mother in 2012, Dave’s dedication to his family, friends, and community remained steadfast. Wherever he went, Dave cultivated lasting friendships—he will be remembered always for his kindness and enthusiasm for life.

Dave is loved and missed by his father, David (Jodi) Dennig; siblings, Jenny (Barry) Longhenry, Joe Dennig, Nate (Tammi) Dennig; nephews, Dylan, Ryan, Cameron and Brooks; other relatives and friends.

Dave is welcomed into Heaven by his mother, Diane Dennig and his grandparents.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was the funniest, sweetest man I ever met. He loved his family so much and was not afraid to express it. I have been working with Dave for about 1 1/2 years but the last couple of months we became good friends. I have never met anyone like him and he will forever be remembered and missed by me.

Condolence from Megan McErlane Gaupp on January 12th, 2022 6:38 pm

So very sorry to hear this news. I’ve had many laughs with Dave at Holy Angels and even the years after. Dave was one of the good ones. He made so many people smile with his humor and personality. I ran into him a year ago in Prior Lake. There were several people from Holy Angels there and we made it a mini reunion. We had many laughs that day thanks to Dave. My deepest sympathies to his family. This is a very hard time and I pray that peace finds its way to you quickly.

Condolence from Angie Ardolf on January 20th, 2022 5:13 pm

I met Dave many years ago when he was the Miracle League coach for my daughter, Ruby. Dave was so kind, inclusive and fun to be around. He made every one of the kids feel like they were all stars. It breaks my heart to know that Dave has passed away. I can only hope that he knew what an impact he had on the lives of so many kids on that field. Miracle League will just never feel the same again. Love and condolences to his family.

Condolence from Corey Gustafson on January 21st, 2022 6:24 pm

Dave is a gentle soul with a kind heart and a smile that lights up the room. I haven’t seen him for years, but I’m so glad we reconnected via many phone calls over the past 18 months. The conversations were thoroughly enlightening and enjoyed-and I’m left saddened we hadn’t started this years ago.
As the saying goes, funerals are for those left behind, and so to the Dennig family I hope it’s of some small comfort to know he often told me of his love for you all. I don’t think we tell our family’s this enough, so I’m thankful for this last lesson Dave has taught me. For the rest of us, it was a blessing knowing him.

Condolence from Derek and Melanie Hendrickson on January 22nd, 2022 2:14 pm

We met Dave when our son played Miracle League baseball. Dave was so fun, kind, and encouraging. He has made a difference in so many lives! I pray my son Lincoln has found him in Heaven and that they are playing baseball together. Sending love and peace to the family. What a shining light Dave was!

Condolence from DJ on January 24th, 2022 6:07 pm

Oh my lord this makes me so sad. I just found out he passed away I never believed there would be a day when Dave is out of office and cant text back. Just so anyone can read and know – we are a small business and got connected with and from day 1 in 2015. He was our guy and he was a hell of a guy too. ( Through his own personality) Dave pretty much taught me through his friendship how to build and keep relationships, he pretty much ran the logistics for us and helped us learn basically why were all here and truly became my friend ( I had no choice but to love this guy). In all of this, he and his funny wisdom taught me how to handle life itself, he had an impact on me ( I am 32 ). I went through some personal hard times and he stuck with me and besides any business would just call or something to check in and make sure everyone is doing well we had a lot of really funny and meaningful conversations where he would toss his wisdom in his Dave type of way and it really impacted me as a man for the better. Last year he got sick he didn’t really tell me how but I could tell something was different. He seemed to be kind of a big hearted tough guy but was smarter and way more relaxed than everyone else around him. ( it made him a legend in our eyes) I cant even tell you how much he meant to me. His stories are amazingly funny. He always had a way of simplifying things and keeping them light but also busting your balls like an older brother. Looking back on this I don’t think I would have moved back to Nashville and met my now fiancé or found success in my business if it wasn’t for this man. He probably knows everyone in heaven already. This was a man who through and through was one of the best guys Ive ever known and am sad he’s passed. I wish I would have been able to meet him in person. Through years of his epic stories, I have heard about his family and friends and I am so sorry for your loss.

To Dave- Hang on I gotta call ya back buddy

It has been years since I’ve seen Dave. I didn’t even know him that well, but well enough to know he was a great guy. I will always remember a weekend I met Dave at UND and how nearly every minute spent with Dave was filled with laughter. He was hysterically funny. Rest easy Dave, thank you for the laughter and joy you brought to us all.

To Dave’s family & friends, my sincere condolences.
