Clyde W. Busse

A life-long resident of Prior Lake, Clyde Wallace Busse, age 82, was received into the arms of God, early Friday morning, May 16, 2014, in the same room he took his first breathe on May 20, 1931. Family will greet guests on Sunday, May 18, from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the service at church. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, May 19 at 11 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 5634 Luther Road SE, Prior Lake. The Reverend John Stern will preside. Pall bearers will be Roger Busse, Lorae Busse, Rob Wade, Kate Stanley, Jack Stanley and Bruce Russo. Clyde will be laid to rest at the St. Paul’s Cemetery in Prior Lake, MN.

Born to parents Albert and Ida (Luedke) Busse, Clyde was honored to be the fourth generation to love and care for the Busse homestead. He was a hard working, serious farmer with strong opinions. Clyde taught his family to work when there was work to be done. He was a man who gladly pursued the life of managing a farm. As a young boy, Clyde enjoyed riding his horse. As a teenager, he would travel to the Dakotas each fall shucking grain for farmers, with other local farm boys.

Besides being a farmer, Clyde also enjoyed visiting area farmers, while picking up milk cans. He hauled milk and dehorned cattle and worked for Swift in South St. Paul, MN. Clyde was always willing to lend a helping hand, to neighboring farmers. He loved to go to dances, play cards and in later years travel. Clyde traveled most of the United States. His greatest trips were to Australia and New Zealand on a farm tour.

In 1951, Clyde met the love of his life, Dolores. On June 25, 1955, they declared their love for each other. They were blessed with four wonderful children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Throughout their 58 years of marriage, Clyde and Dolores worked side by side as a team, making the decisions together and enjoying each other. Clyde enjoyed giving his family nicknames, especially his wife, whom he nicknamed, Ralph. Clyde was most proud of being a grandpa. He was a guy with a great sense of humor and had a good story to tell. Clyde taught lessons of life in unique ways, allowing the grandchildren to come to a conclusion on their own.

Clyde was one of the most fortunate people, because he truly enjoyed his life. Clyde seemed to be a great example of Ecclesiastes 3:22 – “So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work.” He was very happy in his work, loved to farm and enjoyed everything about farming. Clyde was so lucky to pursue a profession that he truly loved.

Left to honor Clyde’s life and mourn his death is wife, Dolores; children, Lynn (Rick) Oerter and her children, Richard, Ray, Roy and great-grandson, Richard Jr, Lorae Busse and her children, Jack and Kate, Lorelee (Rob) Wade and her children, Kurt, Natalie and Calvin, Roger (Nancy) Busse and his children, Sarah and Emma; sister, Verda Russo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death and there to welcome Clyde home in heaven, his parents; sisters, Coredella (Louis) Terceo, Edith (Ronny) Johnson, Gloria Busse; and brother-in-law, Manny Russo.
