Clyde “Bud” Bandy, 88, of Jordan, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024. His Christian Funeral will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jordan (100 Sixth St. West) starting at 11:00 a.m. with visitation prior from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the church. Following the service, Clyde will be laid to rest at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan (309 Sunset Drive). Pastor Jeremy Glowicki will be presiding.

On March 7, 1935, Thomas and Elsie Bandy were blessed with the birth of their second child, Clyde Thomas. He was born on the family farm in Sand Creek Township and was welcomed by his older sister, Bettyann. Most of Clyde’s early life was spent on the farm helping with the dairy cows or working in their fields. It was especially hard work since the family relied on literal horsepower to operate their equipment. Clyde quickly developed his skills with handling the horses and enjoyed working with them. When he got a break from work, Clyde enjoyed hunting with his family and trapping for some extra income. As a child, Clyde attended school just down the road. It was his job to go to school early each morning and get the fire going. He learned to work hard from a very young age.

When Clyde was 18, he met a young gal named Patricia through one of his friends, and she caught his attention. She was a city girl from Shakopee that had previously said that she would never marry a farmer or someone from Jordan. A little over a year after they first met and started dating, Clyde and Patricia were married on November 20, 1954, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jordan. They were the last couple to be married in the old St. Paul Lutheran Church. Shortly after they were married, Clyde was hired by Leon Joyce Construction Company from Rochester, the company that was working on the current Hwy. 169. Clyde was hired as a laborer and went on to work for Leon Joyce until 1979. Clyde and Pat moved briefly to Rochester but soon returned to the Jordan area to start their family. They had four children: Robin, Clyde, Jr., Pam, and Holly. In 1964 Clyde and family took over the family farm. The kids learned how to work hard watching their father on the farm. They raised beef cattle, pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, geese and even a goat. Clyde continued to farm and work road construction until 1983 when he retired from farming. After Leon Joyce, Clyde went to work for Busse Construction in Belle Plaine.

After retiring from farming, Clyde and Pat bought a boat and took up fishing. Eventually, they bought a camper and spent many summer weekends in Richmond, MN on the Horseshoe chain. They made great friends and great memories at the lake. Clyde also spent many years playing Sheephead with family members and friends.

Clyde eventually retired from a long, successful career in road construction. He had started as a laborer and ended his career as a foreman, overseeing multiple jobs at once and building many of the roads and freeways we drive on today. Retirement left him with too much time on his hands and he began working for NAPA parts store. This job suited this outgoing, social man very well as it allowed him to see and visit with a multitude of mechanics in the area. Clyde continued to work for NAPA until he was 83 years old!

Clyde is survived by his children, Clyde Jr. (Mary) Bandy, Pam (Julius Jones, Jr.) Bandy, Holly (Kevin)Vohnoutka; grandchildren, Joshua, Bobby, Dawn, Nathan, Krystal, Whitney, Alora, Tommy, Mikey, and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Clyde is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Robin Claussen; parents, Thomas and Elsie Bandy; and sister, Bettyann (Robert) Volek.
