Betty Lou (Busse) Mesenbrink was 86 years old, when she passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, March 12, 2018 at Friendship Village of Bloomington. Betty was a life time resident of Prior Lake, MN.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, March 19 at 11 am, with a time of gathering two hours prior, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church 5634 Luther Road SE, Prior Lake, MN. Pastor John P. Vaughn will preside. Betty’s grandchildren will be the pallbearers. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bill at St Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Prior Lake, MN.

In the farmhouse, 2.5 miles south of Prior Lake in Spring Lake Township, William and Martha Lee (Klingberg) Busse welcomed a beloved daughter into their arms. In the same house her father was born, Betty graced this earth on April 10, 1931. She was the older sister to brother, William “Bill.” Raised on the farm meant a lot of hard work. But Betty found her favorite childhood memories growing up on the farm. During high school, she worked at Monnen’s Grocery and later was a proud graduate from Shakopee High School in the Class of 1949.

Betty attended St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prior Lake, along with a young man named William “Bill” Mesenbrink. Their first date was attending a Walter League meeting at the church. From this point on, the rest is history. During a snowstorm on February 4, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Betty and Bill declared their love for each other. Their honeymoon endured a three-hour excursion, in the inclement weather, to honeymoon at the Lowell Inn, in Stillwater, MN. In the coming years, Betty and Bill welcomed four sons, John, Tom, Bob and Jeff.

For the first 15 years of marriage, Betty and Bill attended to the daily chores of the farm, until selling it in 1970 and moving into town. Besides dedicating her life as a wife and mother, Betty too worked various jobs. She was a secretary at Sears and Roebuck Company and at the highway department as an advertising display secretary. Betty also took her talents working at Busse Food Market and later working for her son, John at Mesenbrink Construction. Betty was always a class act and well put together. She could credit some of this to her 24 years as an Avon consultant.

Loving the simple things in life, Betty enjoyed anything pink, eating lobster, roses and her favorite season of summer. Betty loved to entertain and prepare large meals for her family. She too enjoyed kicking up her heals on the dance floor, especially with Bill. Betty was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and spent countless hours feeding and watching the bird’s activities at the feeder. She loved the sounds of a saxophone, big band music and the movie of the Glenn Miller Story. The true blessing of Betty’s life was being around her family. They meant the most to Betty and brought her so much joy and happiness. Each member of the family, held a special place in her heart.

Betty will be forever missed and forever loved by sons, John (Mary) Mesenbrink, Tom Mesenbrink, Bob (Lori) Mesenbrink, Jeff (Tammy) Mesenbrink; grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Arneson, Angella Mesenbrink, Jenna (Justin) Bohm, Alex Mesenbrink, Brittney (Pete) Holthaus, Austin Mesenbrink; great-grandchildren, Aveyda, Layla and Bodey Arneson, Crew Holthaus; sisters-in-law, Carol Busse, Elaine Bush, Genny Mesenbrink; other relatives and friends.

Betty is united in heaven with her husband, Bill; parents, William and Martha Busse and brother, Bill Busse.

Condolences to the Mesenbrink family. I know my mom Mary ( Leroy Busse) would want to send her prayers. Betty would come out to my folks every month to sell Avon but I remember it as more of a fun gossip visit. She was a lovely and kind person.

Although we did not meet Betty in person, we came to know Betty’s son Bob and wife Lori through Bob’s direct help to us on our new farm, a few years back. We believe Betty and her husband must have raised an amazing family and we send our sincere condolence and prayers to all of Betty’s dear family and friends.

Condolence from Debi Henry on March 20th, 2018 1:31 pm

My heartfelt condolence to Betty’s large loving family. For nearly 23 years she was my neighbor. We loved birds together. She was far more knowledgeable on that subject, however she always taught me something. She was a bright caring presence. She enjoyed life every day. I am missing her already.
