Betty Lou Conroy, age 96, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at New Perspectives Assisted Living, in Prior Lake, MN.
Her life will be celebrated privately and she will be interned at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, alongside her beloved husband Jim. In lieu of flowers, the family is honored to accept memorials to Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church and the Scott County CAP Agency. Betty was born on September 13, 1924 in Columbia Heights, MN, to Ollie and Esther (Norman) Sundberg, and grew up with two brothers, Norman and Nolan. On September 13, 1958, Betty married James Francis Conroy at St Olaf Church, in Minneapolis, MN. In 1959, they moved a house from Minneapolis to Spring Lake, in Prior Lake township, and raised a son, Mark. Betty and Jim loved life on Spring lake and enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and watching local wildlife. They were also active members of the Prior Lake VFW Post and enjoyed the weekly steak fry and dancing.
Betty derived great satisfaction from serving her community. She volunteered for nearly 50 years at the Scott County CAP Agency. Betty was a founding member of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church and was an active member for the rest of her life. Betty was also an enthusiastic walker and walked many miles every day well into her nineties.
Betty will be missed and forever loved by son, Mark (Kari) Conroy; grandsons, Anders Conroy, Karl Conroy; and many other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, Jim; parents, Ollie and Esther; brothers, Nolan (Marge) Sundberg, and Norman (Merle) Sundberg.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have fond memories of your mom (and dad) at the many AAU Swim meets when we were young. Betty was such a sweet woman!
We’re so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She and Jim were so welcoming when we moved to the neighborhood many years ago. I’ll always remember that she was still swimming in the lake into her 80s. Such an inspiration! I pray you find peace and comfort in your grief.
Sad to read of Betty’s passing. She, Jim and Mark were next door neighbor’s for many years. They were kind, thoughtful folks. My wife, Judy and I would stop by for a chat occasionally in later years and were always warmly welcomed. Those are good memories we will cherish.

I enjoyed watching Betty walk miles and miles as I drove to and from work.
She is probably walking through the pearlly gates now.

Mark, so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She was such a wonderful neighbor/friend to my parents. I will always remember how creative she was and all the special Halloween and Christmas treats she made. She will be missed.

It was so fun to have your mom (and dad) at family picnics, celebrations, and holidays; many fond memories we will cherish. We will miss her dearly. Dear Mark and family,
Betty’s friendship was a constant in my mother’s life, and her presence at family gatherings defined the holidays. What would Christmas be without her rice pudding? In her memory, please accept our gratitude for knowing her love.
So sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. She was always so pleasant and energetic. Though we hadn’t seen her for a few years, she and your dad were considered our aunt and uncle and they were always at every family occasion, great friends for many years. May you find peace in your memories.

Deepest sympathy to Mark, Kari, Karl and Anders. I loved her very much. She was a wonderful aunt and we shared a very special bond. She was devoted to her family, church and the thrift store. Generous and kind, funny and talented. Everyone who knew her will remember her with love.
