On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, Amanda P. Scherer, age 36, passed away peacefully due to renal failure. She was a resident of Jordan, MN and formerly of Prior Lake, MN. Amanda passed away peacefully shortly after her father’s funeral service. Her family was at her bedside at Fairview Ridges Hospital, Burnsville, MN. ‘Say not in grief ‘she is no more’ but live in thankfulness that she was.’

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, February 7, at 11 am, with visitation two-hour prior, all at St. Michael Catholic Church, Prior Lake. Interment at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Father Tom Walker will preside. Pall bearers will be Jason Carpenter, Adam Theis, Mathew Theis, Tyler Ueland, Travis Timm, Joe Spangler. Honorary Pall bearers will be Angel Theis, LeAnn Exum, Samantha Lademann, Jill Van Diver, Kyle Barrie. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Amanda’s memory by the family.

On April 10, 1980 in Shakopee, MN, Amanda Patricia was welcomed into the arms of her parents Steven D. and Bonnie (Ueland) Scherer. She was the younger sister to Nicholas and Shannon, with later becoming the older sister and best friend to Miriah. Growing up in Prior Lake, Amanda had many fond memories and adventures with her siblings and cousins. In 1998, she graduated from Prior Lake High School.

Life was enriched when Amanda met the love of her life, Cory Kessler. Over the past seven years, their loved flourished and enjoyed many adventures together. Amanda and Cory were committed to each other and were planning on getting married in the very near future.

Amanda lived life to the fullest. She knew it is who you spend your days with and what you do with them that matters. Amanda was given the gift to make the most of every day. She lived her life on her terms. Amanda was a free-spirit who lived in the present. She entered a room and brighten it with her smile, laughter, and charisma.

Amanda struggled these past several months while waiting for a kidney and liver transplant, yet throughout this entire time, she handled herself with grace and dignity. She refused to be a victim and lived by her song, “The Fight Song”. There is a saying, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” Amanda taught everyone she encountered how to do this. Not only did she dance in the rain, she wanted to dance in the rain. Amanda weathered an exorbitant number of storms and in doing so, she knew from experience that another storm was coming on the heels of the one that just passed. If Amanda hadn’t learned to dance, she may have remained untouched by the raindrops but unfulfilled. She was fulfilled!

Amanda had so many dreams and plans for the future. Now her family and friends will continue Amanda’s legacy. She taught them how to be strong and how to live and to fight. Amanda had a true and genuine soul, as she supported you, guided you and made you happy. Amanda Patricia Scherer died a death with dignity and respect. She achieved her goal of making us proud!

Forever loved, Amanda will be forever missed by mother, Bonnie Scherer; siblings, Miriah (Steven) Johnson, Nicholas Scherer, Shannon (Ted) Hennen; fiancé, Cory Kessler; stepsons, Jacob Kessler, Anthony and Riley; nieces and nephews, Roman, Paityn and Kolten Johnson, Rebecca Scherer, Alexis and Logan Hennen, Crystal McClure: Godparents, Connie (Paul) Doepke and Gary (Carla) Clerkin; many relatives and friends.

Amanda is preceded in death by her father, Steven Scherer; grandparents, Donald and Betty (Simpkins) Scherer, Donald and Dorothy (Danielson) Ueland and uncle, Bruce Ueland.
