Wanda Lucius, of Jordan, passed away the morning of December 29, 2018 at the age of 67. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (104 First Street West) in Jordan. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (313 East 2nd Street) in Jordan. Father Neil Bakker will preside. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed by Wanda’s family in her honor.

On May 27, 1951, Wanda Mae Dorn was born to parents, Robert & Beverly (Boettcher) Dorn. Wanda was the third of seven children and loved growing up with her siblings, Lois, Barb, Duane, Sandy, Jeff & Tom. Wanda was always a tomboy. She loved playing outside and spending time at her grandparents’ home on Spring Lake. Wanda attended grade school in Lydia and graduated from Jordan High School in 1969.

While in school, Wanda met the love of her life, Wally Lucius. They exchanged wedding vows at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on October 24, 1970. Wally & Wanda settled in Jordan and made a life for themselves. Over the years, they both had various jobs. Wanda worked in construction and sold Avon.

In her free time, Wanda enjoyed water skiing, boating, fishing, hunting, camping and canoeing in the boundary waters. She and Wally spent a lot of time at their cabin in Sandstone. They went hunting and fishing, and Wanda loved watching the deer from the big window in the cabin.

Family was very important to Wanda. She loved spending time with her siblings and extended family. She taught her nieces and nephews how to play 31 and Kings in the Corner. The rules of the game often changed for Wanda’s benefit and she was always the winner.

Wanda was a wonderful woman. She will be remembered always by her husband, Wally Lucius; siblings, Lois (Wayne) Smith, Barb (Merle) Krautkremer, Duane (Sheila) Dorn, Sandy (Dennis) Schneider, Jeff Dorn & Tom (Lisa) Dorn; many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. Wanda was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Robert & Beverly Dorn and nephew, Doug Dorn.

Condolence from Blytha Talalla on December 31st, 2018 8:08 am

Dear Pat, thank you so very much for letting me know of Wanda’s passing. This must be a shock to the whole family if her illness went quickly. My deepest sympathy to Wally and all the rest of the family. I know that you will feel the Lord’s presence and comfort during this very sad time and rejoice that she is home with her Heavenly Father and many of her earthly family as well. I can’t help but think there was a really joyful reunion with your Mom. They were so close and your Mom dearly loved her.

I am not able to attend the service. I don’t get out very much anymore because of physical limitations, but I will offer a prayer for you all for comfort and strength.

My love to you all, Blytha
