Trayvon McCorkle 1

Trayvon Terrance McCorkle, age 20 of Prior Lake, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 26, 2017. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11AM with a visitation one-hour prior all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 S. Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN.

On July 20, 1997, in Chicago, IL at Cook County Hospital, parents Terrance and Theresa celebrated the birth of their son, Trayvon Terrance McCorkle. He was the baby of the family. For the first five years of his life, Trayvon was raised along with his siblings in Chicago. Looking for a change of pace, Trayvon’s family moved to Prior Lake, Minnesota.

From a young age, Trayvon had a knack for mischief. His dad often called him his “little bag of trouble,” a name that was well deserved! Trayvon had the habit of scouring kitchen cupboards and combining all sorts of ingredients—normally on the kitchen floor. His pet fish never stood a chance as he couldn’t resist putting dish soap in their water. There were times that he pulled a Houdini, suddenly there then gone the next minute. This alone kept his parents on their toes.

Trayvon attended and graduated from school in Prior Lake. He always enjoyed school especially being around other people. Even though Trayvon was non-verbal, he made friends easily as his laugh and smile were contagious. During hospital visits, Trayvon used his smile to flirt with the nurses—he loved women and was quite the lady killer. When Trayvon smiled, you couldn’t help but smile right back.

It always surprised Trayvon’s family by the people who knew him. They could never go out without running into someone who recognized Trayvon and wanted to say hello. Trayvon’s family always joked the H&R Block commercials that stated, “you got people” should really be “Tray got people.”

Trayvon loved listening to all kinds of music. On car rides with his mom, he especially enjoyed gospel and old school R&B. His other favorite activity was going to shows with his dad and siblings for family movie nights. He saw nearly every super hero and action movie out there. The last movie he saw, Transformers in 3D, brought a huge smile to his face.

Trayvon was taken too soon, but his happy, loving attitude will never be forgotten by those that love him most—his mother, Theresa Crockett; father, Terrance McCorkle; siblings, Pamela (Jamel) Price, Terrianna (Alec Blackwell) McCorkle, Terrance, Jr. McCorkle, Terriel McCorkle, Tiana McCorkle, Kiana McCorkle; grandmother, Kathryn McCorkle; nieces, La-Niya and Janelle; nephews, Jamel, Jr. and Franklin IV; other loving relatives and friends.

Trayvon is greeted in heaven by his grandmother, Patricia Crockett, and grandfather, Robert McCorkle.
