WEB Todd Kane

Todd Joseph Kane, age 42 of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, formerly of Prior Lake, passed away unexpectedly following a snowmobiling accident on Saturday, January 7, 2017. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4:00-8:00PM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16311 Duluth Ave. SE, Prior Lake. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM with a visitation from 9:30-11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church. Todd will be laid to rest at Credit River Cemetery. Father Tom Walker will preside. Urn bearers will be Jon Haas, Jim Kane, Doug Johnson, Tom Johnson, Luke Dueffert and Matt Dueffert.

On February 3, 1974 in Shakopee, Joe and Connie (Dueffert) Kane celebrated the birth of their second and youngest son, Todd Joseph Kane. Todd attended St. Michael Catholic School and Prior Lake High School where he enjoyed many activities, especially football. During his junior and senior year he was the starting quarterback, just like his lifelong role model, Denver Broncos’ quarterback, John Elway.

Following his high school graduation in 1992, Todd briefly attended college in Winona and worked odd jobs until his brother encouraged him to discover his true calling—the car business. Tim recognized that Todd’s personality and people skills made him an ideal salesman. Todd’s career spanning twenty-plus years began when he went to Airlake Ford in Lakeville pursuing a sales job even though they weren’t hiring. He won over the sales manager who hired him on the spot. Then he moved to New Prague, and worked his way up to Sales Manager at the Ford dealership. He bought a house and made that area his home. For the past seven years, he has lived in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, working as Sales Director for Don Johnson Motors. The Rice Lake community has been like a second family for Todd, and he integrated himself into the community.

Throughout his life, Todd demonstrated what it meant to be a loyal friend. Regardless of distance and transitions in life, Todd maintained friendships and rarely, if ever, let them fall to the wayside. He always enjoyed spending time with people, whether it was a round of golf, a game of softball, volleyball, dart ball, or singing a country tune on karaoke night. If there was a good time being had, Todd was most likely at the center.

There’s a saying, “Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.” Todd most definitely lived. His fun-loving, charismatic personality will always be remembered by those who loved him most, his parents, Joe and Connie Kane; brother, Tim Kane; niece and godchild, Kaitlyn Kane; grandmother, Laverne Dueffert; his strong-willed dog, Boomer, and Todd’s many other relatives and friends

Todd will be greeted in heaven by his grandfather, Edward Dueffert, and grandparents, John and Agnes Kane

Condolence from Nikki Hennen Miller on January 11th, 2017 3:28 pm

Connie, Joe and Tim- My condolences on the loss of Todd’s life. He lead his life with the most outward showing of love for everyone. The few times he would be back in Prior Lake each summer, we would run into him at E&I. He always picked up right where everyone left off and showed such great enthusiasm for everyone’s life. You raised such a wonderful man of character. Tim- My heart breaks for your loss of your only brother. I hope you all find more moments of gratitude than sorrow over time. We will miss his bright infectious smile.

Dear Joe, Connie and Tim,

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I cherish the many good memories of Todd’s ability to make people laugh and of us playing basketball together at St. Michael’s.
