Timothy Speltz was born on February 1, 1968, to Arthur and Jeanette Speltz, in Winona, MN. Tim attended Winona Area Catholic Schools and graduated from Cotter High School in 1986. He enlisted in the United States Airforce, in 1987 after graduation. Tim enjoyed his time in the service and was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona and London, England. After being discharge in 1990, Tim earned an associate degree at Aviation Mechanic Program, at the Southeast Technical College in Winona.

Tim met the love of his life Angela Bahnsen Speltz, in 1994 at one of his favorite places on earth, Cedar Valley Golf Course in Winona. Naturally, their first date was a round of golf, which Angela beat Tim by more than a few strokes. He loved playing golf and was forever frustrated and amused by the game. Tim and Angela were married on April 27th, 1996, in Shakopee, Minnesota. They are the proud parents of three wonderful boys, Jack (age 21), Nicholas (age 20), and Adam (age 13). Tim was a very loving and devoted father. The family resides in Prior Lake, Minnesota after spending some time living in the Milwaukee area and Savage. Tim was most recently employed at Emerson/Controls Products in Chanhassen, MN, where he met and befriended many since 2003.

Tim was a fixture at the hockey rink in Prior Lake and was heavily involved in the Prior Lake/Savage Hockey Association. He enjoyed coaching hockey, but some of Tim’s favorite moments were watching his sons Nicholas and Adam play. Tim also loved attending his son Jack’s theater performances whenever the opportunity arose. Tim was incredibly proud of all three boys. He loved going down to Winona to see family and enjoyed spending time on the river. Tim never failed to renew his prized membership at the Winona Athletic Club. Tim enjoyed the outdoors and spent his time hunting and fishing when time allowed. Some of Tim’s fondest memories were of time spent with family in Canada fishing and visiting the Shadick cabin in Backus, Minnesota.

Tim had a magnetic personality and was capable of making anyone feel like a friend. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all.

Forever loved by wife, Angela; sons, Jack, Nicholas, Adam; parents, Arthur and Jeanette; siblings, Nancy Speltz, Matthew (Kristi) Speltz, Anthony (Rebecca) Speltz; in-laws, nieces, nephews; many relatives and friends.

Very shocked and saddened to hear of Tim’s passing. I was his teacher and golf coach at Cotter, and I remember Tim as a passionate competitor on the golf course with a ready smile and a sharp sense of humor in my English classroom. Though I have lost track of him over the years, it warms my heart to hear that he had a loving wife and three adventuresome sons to share with him his journey through life. May he Rest In Peace and know that he has touched the lives of many.

Condolence from Tom Kukowski on February 4th, 2022 3:56 pm

My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My fondest memory of Timmy is the Sunday football games at my house with his brother Tony. He was the son I never had. He would be my “go get my a beer during the game”. Guy. He would response “you got it old man”. Hahaha

Condolence from Thomas Suess on February 4th, 2022 7:11 pm

He had a “take charge” attitude, got jobs done, and treated the people he worked with respect, and wasn’t stingy with dishing out wisdom when needed, reminding me of several first sergeants I knew in the Marines; earning much respect from myself. He kept the facility running and was a major part of the safety committee at work. I’ll remember him letting me park our camper trailer in the parking lot while our driveway was being replaced, among other things. My heart and prayers go out to his family and close friends.

I have fond memories of Tim from my religion and English classes at St. Stan’s. It’s obvious that he was as much loved throughout his life as he was by us – teachers and classmates – in school. Condolence from Steve Olson on February 8th, 2022 11:01 am

Dear Angela, Jack, Nicholas and Adam,

I share in your loss. I worked with Tim at Control Products and we became friends as we shared stories about our families, fishing, hunting, hockey and travel. I always heard about the big one the boys caught or the score of the last hockey game! We talked dog training frequently and he never failed to bring me a Wild Turkey for watching the dog. The best part was sharing a drink in my garage when he did. I am thankful to have known Tim as a friend and coworker.

My prayers are with you all.

Steve

My condolences to the entire Speltz family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I attended St. Stan’s Elementary School and Cotter High School with Tim. We were in the same class and we were good friends. We would put on our ice skates during recess to play makeshift hockey at St. Stan’s and we played football together at Cotter. We did not keep in touch after graduation, but occasionally I would see him in-passing at the Christmas eve mass at St. Stan’s. I will forever remember his big smile and kind heart. He was always someone that I could count on. May he rest in peace.
