Terrence “Terry” Jon Borchardt

Visitation for Terry Borchardt will be on Tuesday, July 22, from 4-8 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake. A celebration of Life Service will be on Wednesday, July 23, at 11 am, with visitation starting at 10:00 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. Pastor John P. Vaughn will preside. Terry will be laid to rest next to his father, Wilfred at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Prior Lake.

On July 23, 1962, in New Prague, MN, Terrence Jon Borchardt was born to parents, Wilfred and Della (Otto) Borchardt. He was the fourth of five boys. Growing up, Terry was a creative and curious kid, who also loved dirt biking and driving motorcycles. He gave the commencement speech for his high school graduation in 1980 from Prior Lake high school.

After some college at the University of Minnesota, Terry moved to Long Beach, CA and spent three years as a licensed stockbroker for E F Hutton. He then moved back to Minneapolis and continued in the trading business for a couple more years, and then, being the adventurous type, Terry moved to Lake Tahoe, where he helped counsel troubled children as well as enjoying all the recreation activities the area has to offer. He then moved to Fort Worth, TX and spent five years as an air dispatcher for American Eagle Airlines. He then returned back to Minneapolis where he was a salesman for Williams Steel for three years. He then spent 16 years at his current position at Amada America as a Laser consultant and sales person.

On one of his overseas adventures, Terry met a young woman from Thailand named Phut. After some courtship, they were married in February of 2002. After 10 years of marriage they parted ways.

Terry had a love for dirt biking, snow skiing and sky diving, where he had hundreds of dives all over the world. He also was interested in coin collecting, stock market trading, collecting and enjoying all genres of music and spent much time bird watching at his lake home on Clear Lake, IA.

On Saturday, July 19, 2014, Terry died suddenly at the age of 51 due to heart complications. He will be missed for his passionate dialogue, talkative nature and the ability to make others laugh.

He will be deeply missed by his mother, Della Borchardt of Prior Lake; brothers, Dwight (Judy) Borchardt of Prior Lake, Daryl (Gail) Borchardt of Prior Lake, Tim Borchardt of Prior Lake, Brian (Kelly) Borchardt of Minneapolis; many nieces and nephews and dear friend Mary Olds.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Borchardt.
